Happy North American Mother’s Day (the UK had their Mother’s Day back in March). Today’s Simple Sunday project had to be a Mother’s Day card, but would work with any number of other sentiments.

MOTHER’S DAY TEA TOGETHER
I began my project by stamping the rose image from the Tea Together Stamp Set in the bottom right corner on a layer of Very Vanilla Card using Tuxedo Black ink. Then I stamped it again onto a scrap of Thick Very Vanilla Card.
Instead of my usual yellow rose I decided that today it should be pink. So I coloured the images using the light and dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. Then I coloured the leaves using the light and dark Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends.
For my sentiment I chose ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ from the Tea Together Stamp Set, stamped onto Thick Very Vanilla Card using Tuxedo Black ink.
TIP – to stop my sentiment or accent bucking when popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals I often use thick card. Or it can be strengthened by mounting on a second layer of card as a simple support or a contrasting mat.
With the roses all coloured, I was now ready to cut out my pieces using the retiring Big Shot and Magnetic Platform.
The rose on the Thick Very Vanilla Card was cut using the coordinating die from the Tea Time Dies. These dies were available for a short time during Sale-A-Bration earlier this year and will be returning in the 2019/2020 Annual Catalogue on June 4th.
The sentiment was cut using the #A1 die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies. This is the ‘Billy-NoMates’ die that doesn’t nest with any of the others in the set.
To add some additional colour to the project I then chose scraps of Flirty Flamingo and Granny Apple Green Card. This was cut out using the #B1 (smallest) die from the Stitched Rectangle Dies. Group B is the identifier I’ve given to the group of 4 nesting dies in the set.
SIMPLE BACKGROUND AND ASSEMBLY
For my background I chose the Crackle Paint Stamp, inked up with Sahara Sand ink. I laid the inked stamp on the desk with the red rubber up, and holding a layer of Very Vanilla Card in my hand I pressed a part of it onto the inked surface. Then I turned the stamp and pressed a different part of the card onto the rubber. As I worked I checked the card to see where I had gaps and wanted to add more of the image. Then by rotating the stamp I made the crackle effect change direction which gave a different feel to the ‘as designed’ image.

Once I was happy with the background I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to attach it to the front of a card base created from Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then I added the die-cut Granny Apple Green and Flirty Flamingo rectangles. Next came the sentiment which I attached using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To complete the front I used more Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the die-cut rose in the bottom left corner.
On the inside of the card base I then used liquid glue to attach the Very Vanilla layer with the coloured rose. That just left the Very Vanilla Medium Envelope.
Using the same process as before I decided to decorate the envelope flap with the patchy Crackle Paint image, and with that my project was complete.
I love how this card turned out. It’s pretty and delicate and the Crackle Paint background gives just the right amount of texture without being overwhelming. I hope you like it too.
Whatever you have planned for today, I hope you’re able to find a little time to be creative.

Really lovely, Tracy! A couple of my favourite stamp sets here … love those little roses that are included in Tea Together stamp set … use them a LOT on cards that have nothing at all to do with Tea theme or rest of the set. Also love the Crackle Paint background set (isn’t it great?!) and really like how you’ve layered your c/s behind the sentiment on this card. Great colours too! TFS!
Thank you Geraldine
