Here in Nova Scotia it’s bright and sunny, but at minus 12C it’s very cold. So once again I’m in my craft studio dreaming of spring and playing with butterflies. This Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack is available free during Sale-A-Bration. Now there are even more exclusive free items to choose from. But first, my project.

I began my card by using my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut and score a piece of Thick Whisper White Card. I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create my card base.
Next I cut a piece of the Botanical Butterfly DSP to cover the front of the card base. Then I took it over to my die-cutting machine and magnetic plate.
I placed the 6″ long die from the Stitched Be Mine Dies onto the DSP at an angle and cut off the top right corner area. Then I cut off a piece from the bottom left corner.
EMBOSSED JUST FOR YOU
Now I was ready to add my sentiment to the card base.
I began by wiping the front of the card with an Embossing Buddy to remove any oils and static. Then I laid the two corner pieces of DSP in place on the card so that I could see the area that was left for the sentiment.
Using VersaMark ink I stamped the ‘Just for you’ sentiment from the Meant To Be Stamp Set. Then I removed the pieces of DSP and sprinkled the VersaMark ink with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Next I tapped off the excess and removed a few stray specks, before melting the rest with my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).
With the sentiment done I then used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to attach the two pieces of DSP to the card front.
Finally I tied a small bow from Grapefruit Grove 1/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon and added it to the top left corner with a Mini Glue Dot.

I had originally planned to trim the tails of the ribbon, but quite liked how they framed the card, so instead I left them as they were.
MORE BUTTERFLIES
Now I was left with the wedge of DSP cut from the butterflies paper. Rather than waste it, I decided to use my Paper Snips to cut a large butterfly from it. Then I attached the butterfly near the top of some Whisper White Card, using liquid glue behind it’s body. I used more liquid glue to fix the layer inside the card base.
Finally using liquid glue I attached some more of the butterflies paper to the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope. I used my Paper Snips to trim the DSP around the envelope flap and I was done.
It’s been a while since I’ve created a card with this wedge-shaped area. I have to say that having that long die that cuts a small scalloped edge and leaves some stitched lines is a dream come true for me. It’s a die that I think many people will miss in the Stitched Be Mine Dies.
