I’ve decorated quite a few notebooks over the years but I must admit they’ve tended to be more appealing to the ladies. So today I thought I should make a more masculine decorated notebook.

RICH MASCULINE COLOURS

To create this masculine project I decided to use a hardback notebook that I’d purchased in Walmart recently.

First I decided on my colours. I had in my mind Merry Merlot and Night of Navy. As luck would have it they worked beautifully against the notebook cover, which was like a darker shade of Seaside Spray.

I began by cutting some Merry Merlot Card roughly the size I needed and then embossed it using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. With that done I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to attach the card to the front of the notebook.

Next I added a very narrow strip of Night of Navy Card with more liquid glue. Then I used Paper Snips to trim the card to shape using the edge of the notebook as my guide.

SIMPLE SENTIMENT

I decided to use the long “you are braver…” sentiment from the Rustic Retreat Stamp Set to complete the notebook. First I used Night of Navy ink to stamp it onto some Seaside Spray Card. Then I cut it out using the #4 die from the Stitched Nested Labels Dies (counting from the smallest up).

Then once I’d added the sentiment to the cover with liquid glue my masculine decorated notebook was complete.

I’m really happy with how this project turned out. It definitely has a masculine vibe with no fancy embellishments to get in the way. What do you think?
