Today’s blog post is all about the July 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit, On My Mind. First I’ve two alternate projects for you, then click on the link at the bottom to get lots more alternate project ideas. Enjoy.
The July kit coordinated with three suites in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue; Come Sail Away, Garden Lane and Woven Threads. This makes the kit even more useful as the sentiments and images coordinate with the stamp sets in the suites. I love it when the Paper Pumpkin Team does that.
Bizarrely, even though there’s all that coordination I haven’t yet made a project using things from outside the kit. This box had plenty to keep me busy. My two projects actually started out as one, but it was too busy so I ended up with two cards instead. First up, a birthday card with lots of simple layers.

STACK ‘EM UP
I’ve resolved to use up every piece of my Paper Pumpkin kits and so for this card pulled together a pile of pieces from the box. Everything for the focal piece was assembled using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
The main mosaic tile piece is 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″. Then I added a small label stamped with the Happy Birthday sentiment using Mossy Meadow ink.
On top of that I added the Terracotta Tile strip, then the Mint Macaron banner. Next, going vertically I attached the Seaside Spray printed banner. To add some contrast I then fixed two of the cloud pieces to the back of the main layer. Finally I wrapped some of the Linen Thread around the whole thing and tied it in a simple bow.

With the focal piece all assembled I added it to the textured Kraft card base from the kit.
To complete the project I used liquid glue to attach a 3/4″ x 5″ strip of the mosaic piece to a layer of Whisper White Card. Then I fixed this inside the card base.
One final 3/4″ strip of the mosaic piece was fixed to the left side of an envelope from the kit and my first card was done. #simplestamping does it again!
BASKET WEAVE BIRTHDAY
My second card came about because I ended up with too much going on with my original card design.

First I took the green striped card base, and cut off the back, then trimmed it to 3-3/4″ x 5″. I placed the piece inside my Basket Weave 3D Embossing Folder and embossed it. I’d hoped the embossing would crack the dry card but it didn’t cooperate. Instead I took some sandpaper and gently sanded the surface. Finally, using liquid glue I fixed my sanded layer to a Thick Whisper White Card base.
Next I used Mossy Meadow ink to stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment onto a 2″ x 3-1/4″ piece of Whisper White Card. Then I took the laser-cut ship’s wheel from the kit and used a Sponge Dauber to tap on some Soft Suede ink. This gave the wheel some added texture.
With that done I used the adhesive foam ring from the kit to attach the wheel to the sentiment layer. Finally the assembled piece was added to the background layer of my card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To complete this project I stamped the shell image from the kit in the bottom right corner of a layer of Whisper White Card with Mossy Meadow ink. Then I used liquid glue to fix the layer inside the card base.
Finally I took the envelope with the printed map lining and stamped the shell on the front to match.
STILL ON YOUR MIND?
This kit has so much potential, especially since it coordinates with three suites in the catalogue. So even if you didn’t get the kit, make sure you check out the alternate ideas from other members of today’s A Paper Pumpkin Thing blog hop.
