It’s time for another A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop, albeit a bit later than usual. The July 2020 kit was called Summer Nights and was full of wonderful backgrounds. I loved the projects in the kit but had lots of other ideas for alternate projects. Here’s just two of them.

SIMPLE SUMMER NIGHTS CARD
First up I created this simple summer scene using one of the postcard bases in the Summer Nights kit.
I began by stamping the adult and child image from the A Good Man Stamp Set onto the bottom of the postcard. Then using the dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blends alcohol marker I coloured in the whole image.
Next I stamped the “Oh the summer nights…” sentiment in the space to the left of the image using Tuxedo Black ink.
To finish the front of the card I threaded three of the round lanterns onto a short piece of Night of Navy Baker’s Twine from the kit. Using a couple of Mini Glue Dots I attached the twine to the back of the card so it draped across the top right corner. I wanted the lanterns to look as if they were strung away from me so I used a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional to hold the left-hand lantern in place. Next I used Mini Glue Dots to stack three of the pieces pushed out from the lantern handles. Then I used this small stack of card to lift up the middle lantern. For the third lantern I simply attached it directly onto the background.

With that done I used my Paper Trimmer to cut and score a piece of Basic Black Card. I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create a card base. Then using more Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals from the kit I mounted the assembled layer onto the front.
On a layer of Whisper White Card I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to fix a lantern in the bottom right corner. Then with more liquid glue I fixed the layer inside the card base.
Finally I glued another lantern on the front of one of the white envelopes from the Summer Nights kit and my first project was done.
FIREWORKS

For my second project I cut one of the night-time postcards into a 2″ x 5-1/4″ strip. Then using the Detailed Trio Punch I added an oval hole at the top and rounded all four corners.
Using VersaMark ink I stamped the “You light up my life” sentiment across the bottom of the piece. Then I stamped the firework image twice above it. I sprinkled the sticky ink with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and tapped off the excess. Then I melted the remaining powder with my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).

Finally I threaded some of the new Mint Macaron 1/2″ ribbon from the Basket Weave & Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack through the hole. Then I tied some of the Night of Navy Baker’s Twine from the kit in a bow around the ribbon to hold it in place.
Two quick projects and so many more pieces of the kit left to play with!
GET THE AUGUST KIT
To get the next (August) kit called World’s Greatest, make sure you subscribe to Paper Pumpkin by August 10th. The kit will contain everything you need to make nine full-size cards (three each of three designs). As usual everything is prepared for you so all you have to do is assemble the cards using the instructions provided. Included in the kit you’ll also find an exclusive photopolymer stamp set, mini ink spot, and adhesives. The cards will be suitable for men and women, so now my question for you is “who are your heroes?”.
