After yesterday’s very busy Post-It® Note project I decided to do something simpler today. In fact, using scraps from the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack it turned out even simpler than I’d imagined. My plan to include a sneak peek of a new product from the Stampin’ Up! 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue was shelved so you’ll have to come back tomorrow to see that. For now though, here’s something bright and cheerful.

VARIED VASES
The project began with the retiring Varied Vases Stamp Set and the “Hoping your day blooms with happiness” sentiment. I tried stamping it onto a sentiment strip but changed my mind…
Using VersaMark ink I stamped the sentiment onto the front of a card base made from Thick Whisper White Card. I sprinkled the sticky ink with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and tapped of the excess. Then once I’d removed a few stray specks I melted the rest with my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).
TIP – to stop the card from buckling try heating the powder from the underside of the card.
PEACEFUL POPPIES
My original idea was to have a large panel of paper from the Peaceful Poppies DSP. However when I tested the design (before embossing my sentiment) I wasn’t excited by it. That’s when I changed my plans.
So with the sentiment now directly on the card base (rather than on a popped up sentiment strip) I looked for scraps of DSP. I found a small piece with good size poppies and leaves on a blue background. So I cut out three single flowers and a few of the leaves using my Paper Snips.

On the centre of the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach a flower. Next on a layer of Whisper White Card I glued another flower with a couple of leaves tucked underneath it. Then using more liquid glue I fixed this layer inside the card base.
Finally I attached the third flower and remaining leaves beside the embossed sentiment. Despite the fussy-cutting my card was complete in no time at all.

This is quite a different look for me and even now I’m wondering whether I should have added more to the card. Sometimes though it’s good to step outside your comfort zone and stretch your creative mind. What do you think?
