Having spent most of my life in the UK, whenever I think of Christmas I always picture a cute English robin. These birds are quite small and round and about half the size of their American counterpart. We always had one that would visit out garden in the winter and wait for the feeder to to be refilled. So I suppose it was inevitable that with Christmas fast approaching I’d create a gift tag featuring an English robin.

JUST A FESTIVE ROBIN
My project began with the bird in the Santa hat from the Birds Of A Feather Stamp Set. I cut a 1-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ piece of Whisper White Card and then stamped the image using Basic Gray ink.
Next I coloured a patch on his chest using the light Real Red Stampin’ Blends Marker. To make the red blend in I went over the whole bird with the light Crumb Cake followed by the dark Crumb Cake.
For the Santa hat I coloured the bottom of the hat with the dark Real Red Stampin’ Blends, and then went over the whole thing with the light Real Red.
That just left the beak and star, and for these I used a dark Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends.

FOLDED TAG
To create the folded gift tag I cut a 3″ x 6″ piece of Whisper White Card. Then I scored it down the middle, folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
On the back of the tag near to the crease I added hole using the oval hole option on the Detailed Trio Punch. Then I threaded some Whisper White Baker’s Twine through the hole and tied it in a simple knot.
To finish I cut a 2″ x 2″ piece of Gold Glimmer Paper and attached the robin to it using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then once I’d used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to fix the assembled layers to the front of the tag, I was done.
Sweet, simple and quick to do. The perfect idea when you need to make a stack of gift tags.
