I’ve been sorting through a box of completed projects and came across some that I haven’t shown you yet. Several of them were from my personal World Card Making Day challenge last October. Each one is quite different in its look and feel, and my plan is to bring them to you over the next couple of weeks. With the retiring list coming out in three weeks I want to be sure that anything I show you will still be available to buy. So today I’m starting off with this masculine card using the Rustic Retreat Stamp Set and Absolutely Argyle 3D Embossing Folder.

RUSTIC RETREAT
I began this project with the quotation from the Rustic Retreat Stamp Set. It’s a stamp set that I love, and do hope it won’t be on that dreaded retiring list later this month. Using Early Espresso ink I stamped the sentiment onto a 1-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Card.
Next, using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I mounted it onto a 2″ x 3″ layer of Early Espresso Card. Then I set it aside while I prepared the rest of the project.
With Very Vanilla already chosen for the sentiment layer I decided that it would make a nice card base too. So using my Paper Trimmer I cut and scored a piece of Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
ABSOLUTELY ARGYLE
I wanted to add interest to my project but without overpowering the sentiment so I decided on an embossed layer.
After cutting a 1-5/8″ x 5″ piece of Crumb Cake Card I dampened it with a little clean water using a Stampin’ Spritzer. Then I placed it inside the Absolutely Argyle 3D Embossing Folder and ran it through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.

While the Crumb Cake piece was drying I decided to use the embossing as the coordinating feature on my project. So I placed the long edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla inside the Absolutely Argyle Embossing Folder, but so it only embossed about a 1/2″ strip. This was fairly easy as I used the line printed on the embossing folder to help me. Then with liquid glue I fixed the embossed layer inside the card base.
My last bit of embossing was done by putting the flap of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope inside the embossing folder.
Now finishing the project was quick and easy. Using liquid glue I mounted the Crumb Cake panel onto a 1-7/8″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Early Espresso Card. Then I glued that across the front of my card base. Finally I added the layered sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals and my masculine / gender neutral card project was done.
This is a really simple layout that could look quite different with a change of background layer and/or colours. What do you think?
