As an Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator the minimum 20% discount I get really makes my crafting budget go further. Despite this, I can’t afford to immediately buy everything I might want, so I have to make strategic choices. That’s why before buying the On The Farm Stamp Set & Dies bundle, I started with the Day At The Farm 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) that’s available for free during Sale-A-Bration. Today I paired it with a custom sentiment using the Alphabest Stamp Set to create this fun project.

ALPHABEST LETTERS

I began by cutting a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then I punched a hole at one end using the slot option on the Very Best Trio Punch.

The free Day At The Farm DSP is great fun, and as well as ‘scene’ designs there are sheets with images that are great for fussy cutting. There’s something about this large cow that I love, so I cut her out with my Paper Snips and set her aside.

I’d originally thought I’d have to cut off the back of the cow to fit my project but then I had a better idea. What if I turned the card strip and stamped along it instead of across it?

Using Soft Suede ink I began to stamp the individual letters from the Alphabest Stamp Set at the left end of the card strip. The letters are quite forgiving and the see-through photopolymer made it easy to create my custom sentiment without any guidelines. I love puns so stamping “in the moo(d) to read” to suit my cow theme was a bit of a no-brainer.

Then with the sentiment stamped in three stacked lines I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to attach my fussy-cut cow in the remaining space.

Finally I threaded 6″ of Sahara Sand 3/8″ Twill Ribbon through the slot and secured it in place with a little Tear & Tape Adhesive. And just like that this week’s simple Sunday project was complete.

Oh my goodness every time I look at this bookmark it makes me smile. I wonder what other things I might be in the moo(d) to do later…
