Last month I created a bookmark featuring one of the cats from the Pampered Pets Stamp Set. This stamp set isn’t only cat images and I promised to design something for the dog lovers among you. So today for my simple Sunday project I did just that.
DOG AND BOWL
I began by cutting a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Thick Very Vanilla Card, then shaped one end with the Fancy Tag Topper Punch.
Next, from the Pampered Pets Stamp Set I chose the image with the dog facing away. Then using Basic Gray ink I stamped him onto the bookmark before adding the bowl in the bottom corner.
Like the cat bookmark, I wanted to keep this simple and chose Stampin’ Blends to colour in the images.
On the dog I started with dark Gray Granite either side of the collar, between his ears and at the top of his front leg. Then I added dark Gray Granite on the tufts of hair and along his back leg where it touched the ground. With that done I went over the whole of his coat with the light Gray Granite. Finally for his collar I used just the dark Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends.
Next I turned to the dog bowl and for this I chose Pool Party Stampin’ Blends. Here I began with the dark one and coloured a small area on each side of the bowl. Then I went over the whole thing with the light Pool Party but left a thin line towards the right completely uncoloured. This created the illusion that the bowl was round.
While the colouring was nice the dog and bowl did appear to be floating in mid-air, they needed ‘grounding’. So for that I went back to the light Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends. Then all I did was some random scribbles underneath the dog and bowl. I also used the same marker to add some ‘water’ to the bowl.
Now with the colouring complete all I had left to do was add the Gray Granite 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon to the top. I folded the ribbon in half and threaded the loop through the slot at the top of the bookmark. Then I passed the ends of the ribbon through the loop and pulled them tight.
In no time at all my simple dog bookmark was complete.
You’ll find the cat bookmark I created last month in my blog post Pampered Pets, cat first obviously.
Now with a hurricane headed for Nova Scotia in a couple of days I have a few things I need to get done. Hopefully I’ll still find time for a little crafting therapy.
BUNDLE BONUS – Stampin’ Up! has created a set of Pets Dies that coordinates with the Pampered Pets Stamp Set. If you want both the stamp set and dies you’ll save 10% if you order them using the single ‘bundle’ item number. So although I didn’t use these dies today I’ve included a link to the bundle in case you want to explore this option.
