After creating lots of blue projects recently it was definitely time to try something else. Stampin’ Up! has fifty colours in their range (plus black, white and Very Vanilla) and I do have favourites. But having selected the Bird’s Eye View Stamp Set I decided to choose some of my less frequently used colours. I knew I wanted the finished card to be bright and cheerful and it certainly is that. The fact that I ended up using two of the three colours that feature bird’s names was totally accidental!

BIRD’S EYE VIEW
I began with the branch and leaves images from the Bird’s Eye View Stamp Set along with a Basic Gray ink pad. On a 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ piece of Basic White Card I first stamped the branch coming in from the right-hand side. Then I stamped three sets of leaves at the end of the branch. Next I stamped the forward facing bird on the branch. So far so good, but the scene looked a bit empty. So I took the leaves image and stamped it some more, coming in from the right-hand side. Just adding a few partial leaves there was much better.
To colour the scene I decided to use Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. I began by colouring the branch with light Pecan Pie. Then I added a little dark Pecan Pie where the branch split, as well as under the bird.
For the bird’s face I used a light Flirty Flamingo before colouring the rest of the bird’s body with dark Flirty Flamingo. Then I added a little shading by going over some areas using the same colours, so light on the light area and dark on dark. With that done I decided to stamp the round glasses using Basic Gray ink.
Finally, for all the leaves I chose Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blends. After colouring them all with the light marker, I added a little shade at the base of each leaf with the dark one.
At this point I decided the bird would be the perfect coordinating feature for my project. So I stamped him in the bottom right corner of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. Then I stamped him in the bottom right corner on the front of a Basic White Medium Envelope. From there I coloured the birds to match the one in the tree,
SPECIAL DAY SENTIMENT
Now all the coloring was complete I cut and scored some Thick Basic White Card for my A2 card base. After folding it along the scored line, I sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed bird-only Basic White layer to the inside.
For the main layer I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Parakeet Party Card, glued the tree scene on top and set it aside.
Next I chose “sending you smiles for every moment of your special day” from the Very Best Occasions Stamp Set. Using Basic Gray ink I stamped the sentiment onto some Thick Basic White Card. Then I cut it out using the largest of the label dies in the Timeless Arrangements Dies.

My stamped design had left me plenty of room on the front of the card so I decided to add a little bit of ribbon. I cut a 5″ piece of Basic White 3/4″ Herringbone Ribbon and loosely folded it in half. Then to stop the cut ends from fraying I attached some Tear & Tape Adhesive to the back before cutting the V shape in each tail and fixing the ribbon to the card front. Finally I added the sentiment over the top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
All that was left for me to do was attach the assembled layers to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and my colourful card was complete.
I love how this card project turned out and hope it brightens your day as much as it did mine.
