I started November with a nasty cold that only just seems to be improving. I’m not a very patient patient and get very frustrated when illness slows me down. Unfortunately my entire weekend was a complete washout and most of my to do list is still undone. Still it did give me a chance to finish a book I was reading so it wasn’t a total waste. I was also able to create today’s project using the Meandering Meadows 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper (DSP) that’s available from tomorrow.

MEADOW SCENE
When I’m not ‘doing’ I like to plan, so a notebook was the perfect quick project. I began by grabbing a 4″ x 5-1/4″ spiral bound notebook.
Next, from the Meandering Meadows DSP pack I found a part-sheet left over from an earlier project. At 4″ wide by 6″ high it would easily cover one side of the notebook. All I needed now was another full sheet of the same design and I could get to work.
The part sheet that I'[d found was the right-hand portion of the original sheet so, measuring from the right-hand edge, I trimmed it to 3-3/8″ wide. Then I cut 1/4″ off the top and bottom. Turning to the other (full) sheet I cut another 3-3/8″ wide piece but this time measured from the left-hand edge. Then as before I cut 1/4″ off the top and bottom edges.
Now I needed some mat layers and cut two 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ pieces of Night of Navy Card. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I attached the card pieces to the front and back covers of my notebook, lining them up against the outer edges. With that done I opened the notebook and laid it flat on the table so I could see both covers togther.

Although there was a tiny bit of overlap, my two pieces of DSP essentially created a single scene and I wanted to keep that continuity. So I glued the piece without the tree to the back cover leaving 1/8″ of the mat layer showing on the right. Then I added the piece with the tree to the front cover with the mat layer showing on the left.
Finally I chose the middle-sized “Just a note” sentiment from the Go To Greetings Stamp Set. First, using Night of Navy ink I stamped it onto a scrap of Basic White Card. Then I cut it out using the scalloped rectangle die from the Mini Pocket Envelope Dies set. Having done that I glued the sentiment onto the front cover and my new notebook was complete.
