Well yesterday was fun. I managed to get my blog post done and published just about 10 minutes before the power went off. Then it stayed off for about the next 10 hours. We actually didn’t get a huge amount of snow, but what we did get was wet and heavy. At one point half of Nova Scotia was without power! Still, once daylight came I was able to pull out the At Home With You Stamp Set to create today’s project.
AT HOME WITH YOU
I haven’t used the At Home With You Stamp Set in ages so it was fun to revisit it. I chose two images from the set for my project. The large holly swag and the small holly wreath.
Using Tuxedo Black ink I stamped the holly wreath towards the top in the centre of a layer of Whisper White Card. Then I stamped it in the centre of a Whisper White Medium Envelope.
On a separate piece of Thick Whisper White Card I stamped the large swag twice to create a rectangular border.
Then using the fine tip some Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers I coloured in all the images. The holly leaves began with a touch of Dark Old Olive, then completely coloured with the Light Old Olive. Finally I added a dot of Dark Real Red for the holly berries.
SEASONS GREETINGS
Once the colouring was complete I wiped the border piece with an Embossing Buddy to remove any oils and static. Next I used VersaMark ink to stamp the Season’s Greetings from the Snowflake Sentiments Stamp Set. Then I sprinkled the sticky ink with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and tapped off the excess. Finally once I’d removed a few stray specks I melted the rest with my Heat Tool on 2 (high).
I really liked the piece but I felt that I needed a bit more colour and for that I turned to ribbon. Real Red 1/8″ Solid Ribbon to be precise. I tied a small double bow and laid it across the bottom left corner of the border layer, securing it on the back with Mini Glue Dots. Then I added another piece of the ribbon across the top right corner, like a chocolate box.
SIMPLE LAYERS
With the main parts all ready, I cut and scored a piece of Thick Whisper White Card using my Stampin’ Trimmer. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the white layer with the round wreath on the inside of the card base.
Then I cut a piece of the plaid design from the Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper pack and fixed that over the front of the card base with liquid glue.
Once I’d added my holly border layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals I was done.
You can see some of the other projects I’ve made using the At Home With You Stamp Set and coordinating At Home Framelits Dies in these earlier blog posts.
SNOWFLAKE SHOWCASE
Just a quick reminder that today is your last chance to order products from the limited edition Snowflake Showcase Suite. Sadly the White Velvet Paper sold out some time ago, but the Snow Is Glistening Stamp Set, Happiness Surrounds Stamp Set, Snowfall Thinlits and Snowflake Trinkets were still available last time I checked.
Well that’s it from me. I have a lot of wet and heavy snow to move. But maybe first I’ll have a coffee, and perhaps a play in my craft studio…
