A few days ago on my Facebook page I asked people to let me know what kind of Christmas cards they preferred; traditional, religious or cute. Well so far the majority has voted for traditional ones, with religious coming in second. Of course now I need to work out what ‘traditional’ looks like. In the meantime I decided to create something cute, Beary Cute in fact. After all it’s not about what we like as givers, it’s about understanding what the receiver likes, and for someone this is image perfect.

BEARY QUICK
I began my project by making a folded tag base from a 3″ x 6″ piece of Thick Basic White Card. With the long side at the top of my Paper Trimmer I used the scoring blade to score a line at 3″. Then I folded the card along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. Next I unfolded the card and placed it under the slot option on the Very Best Trio Punch. After sliding the crease to the right of the centre line on the punch, I pressed down to give me a hole at the back of the tag.
Now from the Beary Christmas DSP I cut a 2-1/4″ x 3″ piece of a dark blue background with tiny white dots. This would be my night sky but first I needed to add the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Beary Cute Stamp Set. So I began by stamping it towards the top of the DSP with VersaMark ink. Then I sprinkled the sticky ink with white powder from the Basics Embossing Powders pack. After tapping off the excess, I removed a few stray specks then melted the rest using my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).
Once the embossing had cooled I attached the DSP towards the top of the folded gift tag. Then I cut 6″ of white twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials pack, threaded it through the hole and tied it in a simple knot.
All I needed now was my sweater wearing polar bear and I found him on one of the other sheets in the DSP pack. There’s a few different bears on the sheet but one is designed to coordinate perfectly with the Beary Cute Punch. So I simply punched him out and attached him to the gift tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Job done.
For a cute Christmas card using the DSP and stamp set see my earlier blog post Beary simple card.
