Yesterday after my first sneak peek from the Stampin’ Up! 2019 Holiday Catalogue I went out for a drive. It’s only the third week in August but already the trees are starting to show signs of a new season. While I’m not quite ready for summer to be over, I do love autumn colours. So that’s what inspired today’s project using the new Beauty & Joy Stamp Set.

DISTINKTIVE OAK TREE
I began this project by creating my little oak tree. Beauty & Joy is a two-step, Distinktive stamp set but I had an idea to add a little more detail.
First I inked up the square planter using Merry Merlot ink. My ink pad is very juicy so I stamped-off onto scrap paper to remove some of the excess. Then I stamped the planter onto Very Vanilla Card.
Next I stamped the twisted trunk using Early Espresso ink.
Finally I was ready to add my oak leaf image. I initially inked it up with Cajun Craze ink, but again the ink pad is very juicy so stamped off onto scrap paper. Next I took some scrunched up Saran Wrap and lightly tapped it onto a Mossy Meadow ink pad. Then I lightly tapped the Saran Wrap onto the surface of the oak leaf stamp, transferring a little of the Mossy Meadow ink. Finally I stamped the oak leaf image onto the Very Vanilla Card giving it a real autumn feel.
Above the completed tree I then used Merry Merlot ink to stamp the “So thankful” sentiment.

TEXTURED BACKGROUND
For my background I turned to another new product from the 2019 Holiday Catalogue, the Come To Gather 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack.
I love this polka dot paper, the detail of the fabric image is simply amazing, you can see every thread. I cut a piece for the front of my card and then wrapped some 3/8″ Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim around it. I secured the lace on the back using Tear & Tape Adhesive and then with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) fixed the DSP to a Thick Very Vanilla Card base.
To complete the front of the card I used liquid glue to mount the stamped piece to some Merry Merlot Card. Then I attached this piece to the background with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I simply couldn’t resist using that amazing patterned paper as my coordinating feature. So next I fixed a piece to the flap of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. Then with Paper Snips I cut the paper to shape using the edge of the flap as a guide.
One final strip of the DSP was attached to the bottom edge of a layer of Very Vanilla Card with liquid glue. Then once I’d added that to the inside of the card base my project was done.
BEAUTY & JOY
Beauty & Joy is the name of the stamp set and that’s what this card says to me. There’s no expensive tools or difficult techniques used, but the detail on the stamped images and DSP really make this into a special card. While at first glance it might be considered a Thanksgiving card, imagine all the other reasons you might want to send a card that starts “So thankful”.
The Beauty & Joy Stamp Set is one that I’m so glad to own, here’s a look at all the images and sentiments.
