As I sit down to write this blog post the wind and rain are really starting to pick up. This bad weather was forecast and as expected some people are already without power. I’m trying to keep positive and believe that ours will hold out long enough to get this blog post written, but I’ll keep it short just to be safe.
BELIEVE YOU CAN
I began this project by making a card base from Early Espresso Card. Next I spritzed the front with a little clean water before embossing it using the Tufted 3D Embossing Folder. Then I set it aside to dry.
With that done I used StazOn Jet Black ink to stamp the “Believe you can…” sentiment from the Believe You Can (Host) Stamp Set onto a wide strip of Whisper White Card. Then I coloured the image using watercolour pencils.
From the original Watercolor Pencils pack I used Basic Gray and Pumpkin Pie. Then from the Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2 set I used Garden Green, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Night of Navy and Crushed Curry. Despite stamping the image in waterproof StazOn ink, in the end I decided that I liked the dry pencil effect so I left it as it was.
With the strip coloured and the embossed card base now dry I was ready to start putting everything together.
First using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the white strip to the front of the card base. Then I added a narrow strip of Gold Foil Sheet down the left side of the sentiment.
To complete the coordination of the inside of the card and envelope I went back to the same stamp image. This time I made sure the stamp was completely clean before using the brush tip of a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to add ink to the word believe. Then I stamped the word in the centre towards the top of a layer of Whisper White Card.
I repeated the same ‘marker to stamp technique’ again to stamp “believe” on the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope.
Using the Night of Navy watercolor pencil I coloured in the two words to match the front of my card. Then to finish I used liquid glue to fix the Whisper White layer inside my card base.
I love how this card came out it’s all about the inspirational sentiment while the embossed base just adds a subtle touch of luxury.
