After spending a lovely couple of weeks driving through the US and attending Stampin’ Up! OnStage Live in Orlando, Florida, I’m now back home and keen to get crafting. It will take a while to get back into my routine, and in case I missed something I thought this belated card was quite appropriate.
It’s the perfect card for a simple Sunday project.
WATERCOLORED INKS
I love colouring and have been using Stampin’ Blends an awful lot lately. For today’s project I decided to watercolour with inks and an Aqua Painter.
I stamped the lady from the Wonderful Moments Stamp Set onto a layer of Shimmery White Card using StazOn Jet Back Ink. Then I stamped the bunch of balloons in her hand.
In the bottom right corner of a layer of Whisper White Card I stamped just the balloons. Finally I stamped the balloons again in the bottom right corner on the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope.
Preparing for the painting I squeezed some closed ink pads to transfer ink from the foam pads to the inside of the lids. The colours I chose were; Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, Berry Burst, Highland Heather, Blushing Bride and Soft Suede. Then with my barely-damp Aqua Painter I got to work.
When everything was painted I set the pieces aside to dry fully.
WHITE ON WHITE
I really wanted the image to stand out and so decided to stick with white card for the whole project.
Using my Stampin’ Trimmer I cut and scored a piece of Thick Whisper White Card. Then I folded it along the scored lines and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
As I was about to fix the Whisper White layer inside the card base, I remembered that the balloon image needed some tweaking. You see the image is designed to be ‘held’ so there’s a gap in the strings. All I had to do was use a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to connect the strings. With that done I attached the layer inside the card with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
I also connected the strings on the bunch of balloons on the envelope too.
BELATED ANYTHING
The ‘Fashionably Late… Hope it was great!’ sentiment also comes from the Wonderful Moments Stamp Set and I used StazOn Jet Black ink to stamp it bedside the lady.
Once I’d added the completed layer to the front of the card base my project was complete.
I really like this belated sentiment because it doesn’t say what I’m late for. It could be a birthday, but it could be a shower, anniversary, retirement, anything. You could even mask off the second part of the sentiment and send it with your rent cheque!
So that’s today’s project. I’m going to be spending the day working on my projects for the next week as I am expecting some deliveries on Wednesday. They’re full of new products from the 2019 Occasions Catalogue and 2019 Sale-A-Bration Brochure. I know once they arrive I’ll be completely distracted so I need to plan some extended ‘me’ time.
EARLY RETIREMENTS FROM THE 2018 HOLIDAY CATALOGUE
This year’s Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalogue has been a tremendous success. Sadly though a number of items are going to go out of stock in the very near future and will be retired. It’s not an ideal situation but new stocks simply wouldn’t arrive before the New Year. Stampin’ Up! have taken the unusual step of letting us know now so if you’ve been waiting to place your order for any of these items you may want to do so sooner rather than later.
