It's the last Thursday of the month and time for another A Paper Pumpkin Thing blog hop. To be honest I thought I'd have to miss this one as my Celebrating In Color kit arrived quite late. Even so, I managed to create two alternate projects in the short time I had available. While I loved the bright 'as designed' projects I thought it would be fun to try something focusing on the foiled sentiments. So with the kit and few extras from my craft studio I set to work... I love the card ... VIEW POST
A Mice Day To Retire
Today is May 25th and that means it’s only 7 months to Christmas. Just sayin’… But more importantly though it's also the day when Stampin’ Up! reveals the list of products being retired from the January to June 2022 Mini Catalogue. I’m still hoping that the New Horizons suite will be reprieved and we’ll get to play with it for a while longer. But just in case it isn’t I simply had to use that gorgeous paper, along with the definitely retiring Mischievous Mice (Host) Stamp Set, one last ... VIEW POST
Classic Man Card
After a run of flowers, animals and birds I decided that it was time for something a little more masculine. Other papercrafters often tell me that making cards and gifts for the man in their life is incredibly challenging. I’m not immune to this either. Some projects are easier than others and I specifically look out for products that will help me. So buying the stamp set, dies, paper and embellishments in the He’s The Man Suite Collection was a bit of a no-brainer. This birthday card uses it ... VIEW POST
Simple Cottage Flowers
Well the weekend flew by once again but at least the rain held off. Hubby took advantage of the good weather and did a little mowing under the washing line and around the shed and veggie patch. The dandelion lawn still needs a good cut, though we’ll hold off until the apple blossoms are fully out. That way the bees won’t go hungry. I love walking among our apple trees when they are in full bloom. The scent is always amazing and the pretty pink flowers inspired today’s quick project. THREE ... VIEW POST
Elephant Parade Happy Day
Today I did something I haven’t done in months, sleep in. In fact I slept in two hours past the time I'd usually get up. I obviously needed the rest but it’s sent my plans for today a little awry. Oh well, no point in stressing over it. I’ll just have another cup of coffee and plod on through my to-do list. First though here’s this week’s simple Sunday project, a cute card featuring the new Elephant Parade Stamp Set. I hope you like it as much as I do. TAKE ONE ELEPHANT I began by ... VIEW POST
Songbirds Maiden Flight
It’s the weekend, the sun is shining and it’s due to warm up too. This morning there were 9 white-tailed deer vising the all-you-can-eat buffet that is my front lawn. Also more obvious now are the various birds that visit when our black cat Houdini is not in a playful mood. We even saw our first blue jay this year. These brightly coloured birds always make me smile when I see them, so blue was the colour I reached for when designing today’s project using the Sweet Songbirds Stamp Set. SWEET ... VIEW POST
Cottage Rose Got Inky
Well I had a busy morning yesterday with household chores punctuated by phone calls and Zoom meetings. However the timings worked out exactly as I’d hoped. Within minutes of finishing my final Zoom call I was greeted by Tim the delivery driver carrying my latest order from Stampin’ Up! Inside was a small selection of products from the new annual catalogue and I was eager to play. Of course like a child in a toy store I didn’t know what to grab first, so I began simply with Cottage ... VIEW POST
Sun Prints Is Such A Treat
Today is going to be a good day. The sun is shining and there’s a gentle breeze to help the washing dry. More important though is that my order from the Stampin’ Up! 2022/2023 Annual Catalogue is being delivered today. With that in mind I plan to get the chores done early and clear my afternoon so I can play for a few hours. But first, here’s a little treat package / table favour created using the Sun Prints 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) and Pretty Pillowbox Dies. SUN PRINTS ... VIEW POST
Artfully Painted Background
Despite all the cards I have to hand, occasionally I still have to create one in a hurry. This was one of those times. All I needed was a gender-neutral ‘support’ kind of card but I needed it right away. My fall-back is often Stampin’ Up’s Designer Series Paper (DSP) packs. The DSP is almost always double-sided so I get twice the options. Eventually, with an abstract painted background from the Hues of Happiness pack and a bold sentiment from the Artfully Layered Stamp Set, this card was the ... VIEW POST
Black On White And Reversed
Since starting my paper crafting journey almost 10 years ago I’ve developed a new appreciation for colour. I’ve discovered colour combinations I’d never have put together previously, and fallen back on old favourites too. What’s more, I've learned that something doesn’t have to contain every colour of the rainbow all at once. So for today’s project I went right back to basics with a simple black and white scheme. After having made one I wondered what it would have been like if I’d reversed the ... VIEW POST
