It’s the first Wednesday of the month and time for another IDEAS blog hop. This month our theme is “Colour Me Happy". It’s no secret that I love the 2023-2025 In Colors and so I decided to create all my projects using three of the five; Boho Blue, Copper Clay and Wild Wheat. For the IDEAS Tutorial bundle I designed two cards and a gift card holder using a simple watermark technique. But not before I painted with In Color inks and did a little embossing to create an eye-catching notebook ... VIEW POST
Fresh Thoughts
After yesterday’s torrential downpours I’ve decided I’m done with the rain. We definitely needed it, but I’d be happier if Mother Nature restricted the deluge to the wildfire areas in the south of the province now. The weather doesn’t even need to be terribly warm, I’d just like to see a blue sky again. While I wait I’ll have to be satisfied with today’s card project using a design from the Fresh As A Daisy 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack together with the Go To Greetings Stamp ... Sun Rays
And just like that the weekend is over and I didn’t quite get to everything on my to do list. But I came very close, so I’ll take that as a win. The weather hasn’t changed much and it’s going to be a very wet week. That’s the perfect excuse for doing some more reorganising indoors. Of course I’ll still spend in my craft studio, it’s where I go to relax. Yesterday I decided to add a little sunshine to my day and created this project using the Rays of Light stamp. OFF-SET RAYS When I sat ... VIEW POST
In The Zone
The rain continues to fall and some (but not all) of the wildfires in Nova Scotia are out, or at least under control. The pictures that are being released are heartbreaking with so many homes and businesses damaged or destroyed. Still, people will likely rebuild but it will take quite some time. So while the weather prevents us from doing much in the garden I decided to stay in and craft (obviously). For this week’s simple Sunday project I created a fun birthday card using the Construction Zone ... VIEW POST
Delight In Monochrome
Normally I’d be disappointed if it rained at the weekend, but not today. Nova Scotia’s weather is finally giving the personnel fighting the wildfires a break. Hopefully with a full week of rain in the forecast things will be under control soon. Meanwhile I’ve been working on today’s card project. As I sat down my plan was to include dies and maybe an embossing folder, and keep the colour palette very simple. The final result using the Dainty Delight Stamp Set and Dies turned out even better than ... VIEW POST
A Paper Pumpkin Thing: Exploring In Color
While I love spending hours creating my projects completely from scratch, sometimes I don’t have the time. That’s when I reach for Stampin’ Up! kits, whether that’s from their online Kits Collection or Paper Pumpkin subscription. The May Paper Pumpkin kit called “Exploring In Color” was simply gorgeous and I’ve never seen so many alternate projects from so many people. In fact many were spookily close to what I’d planned to do. So instead, for this month’s A Paper Pumpkin Thing blog hop I ... VIEW POST
Paper Florist Dies
Today’s going to be a scorcher of a day. Unfortunately it’s not what we need here in Nova Scotia where we’re battling numerous wildfires. While my little corner of the province is not currently affected, it only needs a small spark to change that. In fact yesterday we felt the fear as a fire in our village was reported. Thankfully the volunteer fire department got to it before it caused too much damage. But that was definitely on my mind as I was creating today’s project using the new Paper ... VIEW POST
Zany Colouring Idea
One of the reasons I love stamping is because it makes me feel artistic, even though my drawing skills are childlike to say the least. It’s also why I love Stampin’ Up!’s pretty Designer Series Paper (DSP). So when I get to combine the two I’m in heaven. Another reason I love their DSP is it gives me ideas. Take the Zoo Crew paper. The minimal colouring of the various critters inspired me to try the same thing with images from the Zany Zoo Stamp Set, and this birthday card was the ... VIEW POST
Bird’s Eye View
And just like that Monday rolls around and it’s time to do some less fun things. Still I was able to spend some quality time in my craft room and completed a few organisational tasks. Of course it’s impossible to go in there without making something and yesterday was no exception. So I opened up a new stamp set called Bird’s Eye View and decided to have a play. I have a feeling the two pairs of glasses will see a lot of use with this set and with others. BIRD'S EYES I began with a 2" x ... VIEW POST
A Fresh New Card
Having twin granddaughters is so interesting. They’re not identical, but sometimes it’s still hard to tell them apart. One appears to be right-handed and one left-handed (they even propel their scooters with opposite legs!). This week we discovered it’s common for twins to get chicken pox 14 days apart, and for the second twin to be much worse. The poor thing, is completely covered in blisters. I’ll video chat with her later but first here’s a “thinking of you” card using the Fresh As A Daisy ... VIEW POST
