Oh boy my fingers are cold! I’ve just spent fifteen minutes on the balcony watching four deer enjoying our back lawn. Since emigrating from the UK to rural Nova Scotia I’ve really come to appreciate country living. I admit, having to drive 40 minutes to town for shopping is a drag, but it’s a small price to pay to be able to watch all manner of wild critters wandering across our property. So I suppose it was inevitable that I’d be drawn to the free In The Country Stamp Set. COUNTRY ... VIEW POST
Cutting Dainty Flowers
When it comes to pretty patterned paper my education has taken another leap forward. Yesterday I did something that would have been unthinkable even a few short weeks ago… I cut up a sheet of the Dainty Flowers 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) that you can get for free during Sale-A-Bration. Nothing odd there you might think. But it wasn’t just any sheet, it was the sheet with the oval floral frames, and I cut right through the middle of one of them. But I had my reasons. CUT THROUGH ... Greatest Journey Silhouettes
It’s been decades since I last rode a bike and I’m not even sure I could still do it. However the mountain biker in the Greatest Journey Dies really called to me. It reminds me of my son who never learned to drive but preferred to cycle everywhere. He loved the freedom cycling gave him to go anywhere and he liked to ride fast, especially when zipping past friends and work colleagues with a grin on his face. So using this simple silhouette and a sentiment I designed this card. GREATEST ... VIEW POST
Dainty Die-Cut Flowers
One of the fun parts of getting new dies is simply playing with them. I find this is the best way to get a feel for what you have and what they can do. When I first saw the Dainty Delight Dies I was immediately attracted to the daisy and the curved leafy branch. So much so that I didn’t really pay attention to the other dies in the set. Today I was determined to avoid that daisy and see what else inspired me. This colourful project was the result. DAINTY DETAILS This project probably ... VIEW POST
Flowers Of Friendship
Did you realise that one week today it will be the end of January! How on earth did that happen? As I get older it definitely seems like the days and weeks are speeding by faster than ever. Good job too, as I’m bored with winter now, and the winter storm warning that appeared overnight. I’m definitely a warm weather girl and spring can’t arrive soon enough. Perhaps that’s why I paired the Flowers of Friendship Stamp Set with this sheet from the Delicate Desert Designer Series Paper (DSP) ... VIEW POST
Love For Friendly Gnomes
It’s Monday. Again. We’ve woken up to a couple of inches of snow that I wasn’t aware was forecast. Now it’s turned to rain and road conditions will be horrible until the snowplows get out there. I suppose we’ve got off quite lucky with the weather so far, but as we head into the second half of winter it will likely get worse. Meanwhile we have Valentine’s Day to look forward to. So today I couldn’t resist using the Friendly Gnomes Stamp Set to make this sweet “love you” project. FRIENDLY ... VIEW POST
I Love Simple Cards
One of the things I love about papercrafting is the way I’m constantly inspired to create something new. While it’s definitely fun to use dies, punches, embossing folders and other tools, they aren’t essential. In fact I enjoy going back to basics to create projects that need no special tools or techniques. That’s why I created Simple Sunday, it’s one day that’s always reserved for a simple project that anyone can do. Today’s card was made at the end of last year and I’m delighted with how it ... Timeless Planner
Well yesterday’s forecast snow arrived and is lying thick on the ground. I thought it would have stopped by now but as I look outside I can see it’s started up again. I have to admit it’s very pretty, and eerily quiet as the snow seems to muffle every sound. Perhaps it’s the perfect day to stay in and get organised. So here’s a decorated diary idea to get you started, easily created with the help of the Timeless Greetings (card) kit and the new Metal Plate 3D Embossing Folder. TIMELESS ... VIEW POST
Perfectly Detailed
At last we’ve come to the end of a busy week. I didn’t achieve everything I set out to do, but I came close so I’ll take that as a win. We’re currently under a snowfall warning with 6” to 8” of snow forecast for the next 24 hours. That could be fun, until we have to go out and shovel it. Fortunately my latest order from Stampin’ Up! was delivered yesterday, including the Perfectly Detailed Stamp Set for me. Right now I’m thinking there’s snow better time to craft. DETAILED ... Greatest Journey Begins
Having all 50 of Stampin’ Up!’s colours in inks and card is a big part of my crafting enjoyment. I’m often asked which colours someone should get and I generally respond with “my favourites may not be your favourites, so get what YOU like”. However what I do suggest is to start your colour journey by picking a few colours you like. Then as you’re making things you’ll find yourself wishing you had x colour, so then make a note to add that to your next order, and so on. LAYERS OF ... VIEW POST
