When I first saw the Wishing You Well Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! I was drawn to the bow. This stamp set is one of the new DistINKtive range with the most amazing detail in the images. There's also a small circular wreath, a cluster of small flowers and 4 lovely sentiments in a delicate font. The largest image in the set is a bouquet and I decided to use it to create a wreath background. THE FOCAL POINT I actually started this project with the focal point, beginning with the season's ... Sparkling Poinsettia
During my personal 24 cards in 24 hours challenge I tried a new (to me) technique using Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. The idea is to give the illusion of coloured Glimmer Paper by colouring on an acetate overlay. On my project I created a Christmas card featuring a sparkling poinsettia using the Detailed Poinsettia Thinlits Dies. I was reasonably happy with the results considering I was working against the clock, but there are a few things I'd do differently next time. SPARKLING ... VIEW POST
Sea Of Textures With Octopus Hugs
When I was working on my 24 cards in 24 hours challenge I tried to use lots of different stamp sets. Even so, I was careful to ensure that everything I used was still available from Stampin' Up! As I was nearing the end it seemed that I'd run out of time before I ran out of projects I had to make. That's when the Sea of Textures Stamp Set called to me. I thought a few extra arms like the octopus would help, and in a round-about way it did. THE OCTOPUS The octopus was my ... VIEW POST
Beautiful Sentiment Simple Colours
When I look back at my recent personal challenge to create 24 cards in 24 hours I'm very happy with the variety of projects I designed. Today's project is a favourite possibly because of the beautiful sentiment, but also because of the embossing. In fact these two types of embossing really makes a simple layout into something quite elegant. MONOCHROME BACKGROUND I began by using my Stampin' Trimmer to cut and score a piece of Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then I folded it along the scored ... VIEW POST
Hand Coloured Designer Series Paper
When you've set yourself a personal challenge to design and make 24 different cards in 24 hours, you'll do anything. For the fourth card in the series I fell back on a technique I tried some months ago. This time I decided to create hand coloured Designer Series Paper in autumn colours. HAND COLOURED DESIGNER SERIES PAPER In the past, Stampin' Up! have sold paper that was designed to be coloured, but that's not what I used. My Designer Series Paper (DSP) actually comes from the Nature's ... VIEW POST
WWYS189 Still Night
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. A special thank you too to whoever left a chocolate bar on my front door yesterday. While working on my 24 cards in 24 hours challenge I'd mentioned my need for chocolate, and it appears someone responded. I was shattered by the end of it and slept like a log last night. Which leads me nicely into this week's What Will You Stamp? design challenge, WWYS189 Still Night. MORE CRAFTING Oh yes, having finished my 24 cards I realised I hadn't made my Design Team ... WCMD 2018 Personal Challenge
If you saw yesterday's blog post you'll know that I set myself a personal challenge to mark World Card Making Day. Starting at 12 noon on October 6th I would design and make from scratch, 24 cards in 24 hours. In the first 10 hours I managed to complete 12 cards including the inside and envelopes. Then I remembered that I hadn't written today's blog post! So here I am after 10 solid hours of crafting, faithfully typing up a blog post for you. As I stifle yet another ... VIEW POST
World Card Making Day 2018
My daughter tells me today is 'National Transfer Money To Your Daughter's Account Day'. Hmm, I'm not sure about that one. But it is definitely World Card Making Day 2018. All over the crafting world people are making cards, not that we card makers need an excuse. My first card for today is another one inspired by a colour challenge, using a technique I haven't use in ages, masking. MASKING IMAGES Before I could start the actual project I needed to first create some masks ... VIEW POST
Friends Feathers & Frost
When I got up to create today's project my mind was a blank. Often I'll go to bed thinking about what I'll make and by the time I wake an idea has popped into my head. So having been let down by my subconscious mind, I turned to a design challenge, the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge in fact. In no time at all I'd made a very simple card for friends. SIMPLE BORDER BACKGROUND I began with a layer of Very Vanilla Card and Soft Sea Foam ink. Using one side of the large leafy image from the ... VIEW POST
Rooted In Nature Christmas Trees
Don't you just love it when you can get more out of your crafting tools. When buying stamp sets I try to think about how they might be used in different ways, for example as Christmas trees. Rooted in Nature was one that appealed to me for a number of reasons. The images can be used for masculine and feminine projects, and they vary in scale. They also compliment other stamp sets that I have, like Lovely As A Tree (and now Winter Woods too). Of course one of the challenges is remembering ... VIEW POST
