Did you know that there's only 59 days until December 1st! So if you're planning on getting your handmade cards in the mail by then, it's time to get going. Sending 30 cards? You'll need to make one every other day. Somehow pulling out my new Merry Christmas to All Stamp Set this morning doesn't seem so premature after all. Today I fancied making something with a luxurious feel, but without lots of work. With the help of the Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) I think I ... VIEW POST
Puzzle Pieces Inspiration
My regular blog readers will know that I get my inspiration from lots of different sources. Just recently I ordered the Love You To Pieces Stamp Set, and coordinating Puzzle Pieces Thinlits Dies from Stampin' Up! I was inspired as soon as I saw these in the 2017/2018 Annual Catalogue, and in many ways, too inspired. In the end I decided to begin by channelling my ideas using a couple of design challenges. BRIGHT COLOURS I began with the background, using the large puzzle piece outline ... VIEW POST
WWYS188 Takeout Treats
So we're back at another Monday morning, and once again I'm wondering where the past week went. Maybe it's my age but I swear time has speeded up at an alarming rate. Being Monday, it's time for another What Will You Stamp? Challenge. This week it's WWYS188 - Takeout Treats. The stamp set is designed for all those treats and little gifts you'll need over the coming months. Yes there is one Halloween sentiment, but there's also Christmas, thank you, love and other options too. So for my ... VIEW POST
Beautiful Blizzard Snowflakes
A few days ago I created a card with embossed and die-cut snowflakes from the new Beautiful Blizzard Bundle. I really like this bundle and the snowflakes all have 6 sides, which I know is important to many people. There's also some gorgeous sentiments (words and type-face) in the stamp set too. So I suppose it was inevitable I'd end up with a bookmark idea for today's simple Sunday project. OH SO SIMPLE SNOWFLAKES I began, as usual, with a 2" x 5-1/2" strip of Thick Whisper White ... Dynamic Embossing On DSP
So this morning I had an idea. I experimented a few days ago with a double-inking technique on the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder® and was really pleased with the results. Today I had an idea to try using a different Dynamic embossing folder on DSP to see how that worked. So I pulled out one I haven't used in ages, Basket Weave, and accidentally made a masculine birthday card. Not that I'm complaining! BASKET WEAVE DYNAMIC EMBOSSING FOLDER The point about the ... Santa’s Apron Christmas Cheer
Yesterday I spent some time in my craft studio looking at different colour combinations for future projects. With all the new colours in the Stampin' Up! range I wanted to explore some options. Poppy Parade is a vibrant bright red that I haven't used much but it goes beautifully with black and white. Of course as soon as I saw them together I immediately thought 'Christmas', and before I knew it I'd created a Santa's Apron bottle tag. SANTA'S APRON TAG BASE The base of the tag is a ... VIEW POST
Rainy Morning Brighter Days
It's been warmer here in Nova Scotia just lately, but rain and grey skies have replaced our usual vivid blue. Once again the weather influenced my choice of project and stamp set, but it's anything but dreary. So with the 'wishing you brighter days' sentiment on the inside of the card, here's your morning papercrafting inspiration. THE COLOURS I began with a piece of Whisper White Card and the umbrella girl image from the Beautiful You Stamp Set. I stamped the image onto the card using ... VIEW POST
Beautiful Blizzard On A Frosty Morning
Ooh yesterday was chilly! We had our first frost and it was well into the morning before the sun melted it away. Luckily our tomatoes and peppers are in the greenhouse so I've still got time to harvest them. It was a reminder though that autumn is here and winter won't be far behind. I suppose it's only fitting then that I chose yesterday to ink up my new Beautiful Blizzard Stamp Set. This stamp set and the coordinating Blizzard Thinlits Die are simply stunning with a variety of snowflake ... VIEW POST
Double-inked embossing technique
I'm always looking for ways to showcase great Stampin' Up! products that might otherwise be overlooked. The Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is one such item. The photograph in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalogue simply doesn't do it justice. This is, hands-down, my favorite embossing folder and I can't seem to stop playing with it. Today I bring you a new idea with this folder, double-inked embossing. Create a background, add a simple sentiment, a die, doily and some ... VIEW POST
WWYS187-Winter Woods Design Team Project
It's Monday again and time for another What Will You Stamp? Challenge and this week the challenge is WWYS187-Winter Woods. As a member of the WWYS Design Team I'm always trying to think of different ways to inspire others through my projects. When I sat down this week I decided to video the whole design and create process. I had a vague idea of a sponged night-time scene with the trees but other than that, no definite plans. Filming didn't quite go according to plan, but then that's often ... VIEW POST
