As a card designer I rarely (if ever) make up whole card kits according to the instructions. I'm so busy making my own designs that copying someone else's projects just doesn't fit into my day. Plus I've never been one to send out multiples of the same design. However, that doesn't mean I never buy card kits. On the contrary, I love card kits. I take the pieces and make new designs, and boy did I have fun with the Timeless Tidings Project Kit from the Stampin' Up! 2018 Holiday ... VIEW POST
Winter Woods and Simple Sponging
As summer begins it's eventual transformation to autumn, the leaves are starting to change colour. Some have already fallen and litter the lawn, reminding us that winter isn't that far away. Watching the changing of the seasons is one of the perks of living in this rural part of Nova Scotia. I suppose then that I shouldn't have been surprised when I was drawn to the new Winter Woods Stamp Set. I knew immediately that it would have to go on my Holiday Catalogue pre-order. There are so may ... VIEW POST
Joyous Noel with Copper Foil
Once upon a time there was a lady who discovered Stampin' Up! and began to make her own cards. She'd been told she wasn't very artistic, but she persevered, playing every day with her with stamps, ink and paper. In the beginning her projects were very basic, but as time passed she began to experiment. She discovered sparkly Glimmer Paper, heat embossing, sequins and ribbon, and began to use them more often. Now she couldn't imagine not using these pretty things, and when she saw the new ... VIEW POST
Timeless Tidings and beautiful moments
Can you believe it's the end of August already! I swear that time must have speeded up because that's two-thirds of the year gone in a flash. Of course there is a good side to racing into September, and that's the Stampin' Up! 2018 Holiday Catalogue. It goes live for customers on September 5th and for today's sneak peek I bring you Timeless Tidings. THE BASE AND BACKGROUND The base for my project is a piece of Thick Whisper White Card cut and scored using my Stampin' Trimmer. I folded ... VIEW POST
Feathers & Frost (and a wreath)
Most of the time I can see why a set is named the way it is, but not today. Today my Stampin' Up! 2018 Holiday Catalogue sneak peek uses the Feathers & Frost Stamp Set. In the set there's a couple of birds with feathers, but no frost, not even a mention in a sentiment. Of course that didn't stop me buying this gorgeous 13 piece photopolymer stamp set. There's two birds facing opposite directions, a large square wreath/branches image and 4 smaller images. The line art images are great ... VIEW POST
Santa’s To Do List
OK I know it's still August (although not for long), but I couldn't resist today's sneak peek project. Anyone who knows me knows I love notebooks and making lists. I've discovered that writing down things and ticking them off when they're done is so satisfying. This is never more true than in the run up to Christmas when I get really busy with craft fairs. So when I saw one particular image in the new Signs of Santa Stamp Set, one project immediately came to mind. I simply had to have ... VIEW POST
Spirited Snowmen and relief from the heat
After yesterday's rather long post featuring a gift box project I thought today's should be much simpler. I decided to grab the new Spirited Snowmen Stamp Set for my sneak peek project. It's a red rubber stamp set with 3 lovely line-art snowmen images, two smaller images and three sentiments. Here in Nova Scotia we're under another severe heat warning with feel-like temperatures in the high 30s. Playing in the snow seems quite appealing right now... THE BASICS Starting with my ... Blended Seasons holly wreath
The What Will You Stamp? challenge Design Team decided that this week should be WWYS183 Blended Seasons. This special stamp set is only available during August, while stocks last, and we know it's been a popular set. I immediately loved the large line-art images and have had lots of fun with them. I've made quite a few projects with this set but I think I may well have saved the best until last. For my Design Team project I decided to use the stamp set to create a holly wreath gift ... Little things like textured weave
I don't tend to use a whole lot of ribbon on my projects. But when I do it has to be something that I love. The Stampin' Up! 2018 Holiday Catalogue has some gorgeous new ribbons and I have one to show you today. This one is called Poppy Parade 1/2" Textured Weave Ribbon. It has a wonderfully interesting texture in Poppy Parade and Whisper White. The white edging is obvious, but look closely and you'll see a subtle difference between the two sides. On one side it seems the body of the ... VIEW POST
Peaceful Poinsettia Flag Day
Papercrafting is such fun, but it's not only about greetings cards. I make bookmarks, tags and gift packaging, and decorate notebooks and other items. I also use my Stampin' Up! supplies and tools to make decorative pieces for the home too. Today couldn't resist making this poinsettia flag decoration using some stunning new products from the 2018 Holiday Catalogue. STRONG BASE I began by preparing the base, a raw wooden flag shape purchased ages ago at Michaels for under a dollar. It's ... VIEW POST
