It’s the weekend. Yay! Despite having lots to do I’m looking forward to being productive at home. I’ve made my list and it’s here at the side of my computer to remind me what I want to achieve. As well as some decluttering and reorganising in my craft studio, I’ve allowed myself time to ‘play’ as I want to revisit some older, but still available, stamp sets and dies before my new catalogue order arrives next week. So today’s “thinking of you card” features the By My Side Stamp Set.

BLENDS ON THE SIDE
I began by choosing the image of the girl with the bird from the By My Side Stamp Set. Then I stamped it in the bottom left corner of a 3-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White Card using Smoky Slate ink. Just above the image and over towards the right I stamped “Thinking of you today”. Then I set to wok colouring in the image using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.
While I love being able to blend Stampin’ Blends, I also use them in a more basic way, just to add a nice even area of colour. This is what I did today, using just one marker from each pair. For her hair I used light Daffodil Delight, before colouring her dress with light Fresh Freesia. The sweet bird came next and for that I used light Pool Party.
That just left her skin and here I decided to use the Ivory maker (leaving the Bronze on the side with the other unused dark markers). After colouring her hands, legs and face, I scribbled a little ground beneath her feet using the Ivory marker once again.
You’ll notice however that the skin behind her glasses is slightly darker and this was really easy to achieve. All I did was go over those sections a second time with the Ivory Stampin’ Blends. This is a simple way to get even more from each Stampin’ Blends marker, and a trick I often use to create the effect of shadows on images.

With the colouring complete I cut a 3-3/8″ x 4-1/8″ piece of Lost Lagoon Card. After mounting the stamped layer on top using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I set the assembled piece aside while I worked on the rest of the card.
HELLO, IRRESISTIBLE
For my A2 card base I used my Paper Trimmer to cut and score some Thick Basic White Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Next I chose a spot and line pattern in Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock from the Hello, Irresistible 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. This would be the coordinating feature for my project.
First I cut a 2-1/4″ x 6″ piece and glued it to the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope. Then I trimmned off the excess paper with my Paper Snips, using the edge of the flap as a guide.
To decorate the inside of the card I cut a 3/4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the same DSP pattern along with a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. After gluing the DSP down the right-hand side of the card layer I fixed the assembled piece inside the card base.
Now I needed one final piece of the DSP and I cut this at 1-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. Then using liquid glue I attached it to the card front 3/4″ from the crease. Finally using Stampin’ Dimensionals I added the mounted stamped piece and my “thinking of you” card was complete.
