I’m not sure how it can be Monday already, but apparently it is. They say time flies when you’re having fun, and I was definitely enjoying myself in the craft studio this weekend. Exploring new stamp sets and dies, and rediscovering old ones is my favourite way to relax. Yesterday I went back to the new Celebrations Tag Dies. My intention was to test out the second style of tag this set creates. In fact I was having so much fun I didn’t even think to grab a stamp set!

TAKE 3 CELEBRATIONS DIES
I began this project with some Very Vanilla Card. Then from the Celebrations Tag Dies I chose the large die with the scalloped ends. I also picked out the circle die and spotted candle die then using my full-size Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine I cut out one of each piece. With that done I cut another of the candle dies (giving me four candles in total).
Next I folded the tag piece in half along the line added by the die. Then I cut 6″ of gold cord from the Simply Elegant Trim pack, threaded it through the hole and tied it in a simple knot.
TIP – Don’t tie the knot too close to the fold or it will prevent the tag from being opened!
Now I needed three of the four dies-cut candles (I’ll keep the last one for a future project). To colour them in I decided to use Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers and create an ombre effect. I started at the bottom with dark Starry Sky, then I added light Starry Sky above it. This was followed by dark Bermuda Bay and light Bermuda Bay. Creating a gradual colour change was easily done by overlapping a little of one colour with the next. For the flame I used dark Daffodil Delight at the centre and then went over the whole flame with light Daffodil Delight. Finally I drew a wick with the writing tip of a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker. Once one candle was complete I moved onto the second and third ones.

Now I was ready to assemble the tag. First I put a little Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) on the back of each candle and fixed them onto the die-cut circle. Then after putting Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back I added the circle to the front of the folded tag base. Job done.
This is probably the fastest gift tag I’ve made in a long while. I love the clean and simple lines, and can see so many other possibilities with the Celebrations Tag Dies. I think I may just have to play some more.
You’ll find the pocket-style tag also created using the Celebrations Tag Dies in my earlier blog post Gift tag surprise.
PRODUCT LIST
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Celebrations Tag Dies as a bundle with the coordinating Celebrate With Tags Stamp Set (not used today). Using the single “bundle” item number on my order meant I saved 10% off the cost of buying the same two items separately. I’ve included a link for the bundle in case you want to explore this option for yourself.
UPDATE 2023: Sadly the Celebrations Tag Dies have retired and are no longer available from Stampin’ Up!
