After yesterday’s colourful thank you card I decided to make something more childlike for my second sneak peek project. You all know I’m a sucker for cute critters and the Zoo Crew 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) could have been made for me. Like most of the DSP from Stampin’ Up! this heavy-weight paper is printed on both sides. On one side of each sheet are black and white patterns. But the other sides feature a whole menagerie of line-art creatures engaged in a variety of activities like this raccoon.

This project was really quick to make and I started by choosing the party-themed sheet from the Zoo Crew DSP. In one corner I saw this cute raccoon holding a bunch of balloons and cut roughly around him with Paper Snips. Then from the Something Fancy Dies I chose the largest of the ‘rectangular’ dies to cut out the raccoon and some of his background.
Next, using the same die I cut a piece of Basic White Card. Then I cut 6″ of Gray Granite twine from the Basker’s Twine Essentials Pack, After folding the twine in half I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to fix the loop at the top of the white die-cut piece. Then I used more liquid glue to attach the die-cut DSP and sandwich the twine loop between them.
For my sentiment I chose “it’s your day” from the Days To Remember Stamp Set. Using Tuxedo Black ink I stamped it onto a scrap of Basic White Card before cutting around the words with my Paper Snips. Then I added the sentiment to the front of the tag with pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finally I decided that I wanted my raccoon to have a proper ‘mask’ so I simply coloured it in using a dark Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends alcohol marker. And just like that my project was complete.
ZOO CREW PAPER
I mentioned that the Zoo Crew DSP had six themes. These are perfect for children’s projects or adults alike. In addition to the balloon holding raccoon, the party-themed sheet has an elephant with bunting, an armadillo with a gift, a dog with a noisemaker, and a cupcake juggling koala. The other sheets have different animals and the themes are; wheeled activities, art & relaxation, music, dance, and the great outdoors. Some of these images can be cut out using the new Zany Zoo Dies. Unfortunately the dies (and the coordinating Zany Zoo Stamp Set) have not arrived yet so I’ll have to show you them another time. Meanwhile here’s a quick sample of the twelve patterns in the Zoo Crew DSP.

So that’s it from me for today. I hope you’ll come back tomorrow when I’ll have another sneak peek project using a new stamp set and coordinating dies.
