Sitting at home yesterday watching the snow pile up, I was glad to be able to play in my craft studio. While the yard outside (what little I could see of it) was turning white I went in search of bright colours. In the end I made a number of projects. This one was inspired by the colour combination from the January 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit, I’ll Bee Yours.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND
I began with Highland Heather and Rococo Rose ink pads and a scrunched up ball of Saran Wrap (cling film). To create the abstract effect I lightly tapped the Saran Wrap onto the surface of the ink pad and tapped it onto a layer of Whisper White Card. I repeated the process until I had covered the piece with colour. Then with a second ball of Saran Wrap I did the same with the other ink pad.
For the inside of my card I decided to use the same Saran Wrap technique on a second layer of Whisper White Card. This time however I covered all but a 1″ strip of the card so I ended up with a strip of colour down the right-hand side.
Finally I covered the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope with the two ink colours, before disposing of the Saran Wrap.
With the background complete I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to fix the main piece onto a layer of Highland Heather Card. Then I glued it to the front of a Thick Whisper White Card base. On the inside of the card base I added the layer with the inked strip.
I was now ready to start on the focal point of the card.
TWO MORE COLOURS
I’d already used two colours from the Paper Pumpkin kit but there were two left to add, Mint Macaron and Crushed Curry.
I decided to work on the Crushed Curry card piece next by spritzing it with a little clean water. Then I placed it inside the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder and ran it through my embossing machine. I set the piece aside to dry while I turned to the sentiment layer.

For this project I chose a really pretty sentiment from the Timeless Tulips Stamp Set, “What a beautiful difference one single life makes”. Using Highland Heather ink I stamped it onto a piece of Whisper White Card, and while I liked the colour it seemed a little uninspiring. So I grabbed my Detailed Trio Punch. I can’t say I’ve used the ‘fancy corner’ option more than a couple of times but it seemed perfect. With the decorative cutout in the corner, I used liquid glue to mount the sentiment onto Highland Heather Card.
Now that my embossed piece was dry I mounted that onto a layer of Mint Macaron Card with liquid glue. Next I added a piece of Very Vanilla 3/8″ Scalloped Lace Trim, secured on the back with a little Tear & Tape Adhesive.
To complete my project I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to fix the embossed layer on the card front. To keep the sentiment level I stacked two Dimensionals on top of each other under the right hand edge. Then once I’d layered it over the embossed piece my project was done.
If you like these colours you’ll find another card inspired by this combination in my blog post Time Tropical Sneak Peek.
