One of the things I had to get used to when I moved to Canada was the subtle differences in the language. From the boot of my car becoming the trunk, to using a cart at the supermarket instead of a trolley, it was a learning curve. A cookie in the UK is a specific type of biscuit, whereas biscuits here are what I knew as scones. Cookie is used for all kinds of ‘biscuits’ in Canada. Confused yet? After ten years I still am. Whether you call them biscuits or cookies, my absolute favourite has to be HobNobs. They’re not cheap here, but every now and then we treat ourselves. If you haven’t tried them, you should. Although I will warn you if you’re anything like me, once you’ve opened the packet they might not last long!

MAKING COOKIES
What better way is there to show someone you love them than with home-baked cookies? Well I’m a useless baker, so in my case they might not feel very loved. Creating some pretty packaging for them? That I can do, especially using the Nothing’s Better Than Stamp Set.
The cookie image is actually two stamps, the outline with the spotty pattern, and the solid shape. I found the easiest way to get the stamps lined up was to stamp the outline first than add the solid image. Today I used Soft Suede ink and stamped the outline onto Thick Whisper White Card. Then I inked up the solid image with Soft Suede ink and ‘stamped-off’ onto scrap paper. This removed a little of the ink so when I stamped over the outline it was a lighter shade. Then I repeated the process a second time because one cookie is never enough!
LOVE YOU MORE THAN
Now I needed to use the coordinating Love You More Than Dies to cut out my cookies. I also cut out four more cookie shapes from Thick Whisper White Card. Then with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I stacked each stamped cookie onto two of the plain white ones.
Next I removed the backing from some Adhesive Sheet and attached it to the back of a piece of Bermuda Bay Card. From this piece I then cut “Love you more than”. This is one die that cuts all four words individually. As it had the Adhesive Sheet on the back I ran it through my machine a second time just to be safe.
In no time at all I was ready to start putting my project together and I started by folding the Mini Pizza Box. This food-safe box is already cut and scored and requires no adhesive. It’s also the perfect size for a cookie.
Then I cut a layer of Soft Suede Card and a wood-grain piece from the In Good Taste 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. Using liquid glue I fixed the two pieces together and then set to work on the decoration.

As I was deciding the placement of my die-cut pieces I realised that the cookie die cuts off the crumbs. So once I knew where the cookies were going I stamped the images again directly onto the wood-grain paper. With that done I used liquid glue to fix one of the die-cut cookies over one that I’d stamped on the DSP. The second die-cut cookie went over the other stamped image but this time I used a Stampin’ Dimensional.
With the cookies firmly in place I could then see where I had room for the sentiment. I peeled off the backing paper from the Adhesive Sheet stuck to the back of each word and pressed them into place.
Finally, using liquid glue I mounted the assembled piece onto the top of the box. Today I made chocolate chip cookies, I wonder what other cookies I might be able to whip up?

BONUS x3 ANYONE?
BONUS KIT – I loved making this box and a ‘chocolate’ card a few weeks ago. In fact I love them so much I will send a free kit of pieces to anyone who buys the Nothing’s Better Than Stamp Set and Love You More Than Dies through my online store. In the kit will be all the card, paper and embellishments you need to create both projects for yourself. All you’ll need is your stamp set and dies, plus ink and some basic adhesive. Please check that you have allowed Stampin’ Up! to share your contact details with me so I’ll know where to send your free kit.

You’ll find the card made using this stamp set and dies in my blog post Better late than never.
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the stamp set and coordinating dies using a single ‘bundle’ item number. This meant that I saved 10% off the cost of buying the two items separately. (I’ve included both options in my product list below)
BONUS DAYS – If you buy the Nothings Better Than bundle in July, you’ll also qualify for a Bonus Days coupon. This can be used to get $6 off any order you place in August. Plus for every additional $60 CAD spent in a single order in July (before shipping and taxes), you’ll earn another $6 coupon. Just make sure you have your correct e-mail address on your account so Stampin’ Up! can e-mail your coupon codes to you.
It happens in the States, also! One the West Coast you carry a purse, wear tennis shoes, and go to the beach. On the East Coast its a pocketbook, sneakers, and the shore, to name a few.
It’s so funny Noel. A purse in the UK holds mainly coins and is a wallet over here, whereas a wallet in the UK is generally used by men and carries paper money. I can vividly remember the time our elderly neighbour here told me he always does his gardening in his vest and pants. A vest and pants in the UK are underwear!
One can really get in trouble if he/she doesn’t know the proper vernacular!
