Yesterday afternoon I was in a gift tag kind of mood. I often sit and make a batch of gift tags as a way to develop ideas. I might have a stamp set that lends itself to tag sentiments, or small scraps of card or paper to use up. Or sometimes it’s a punch, die or embossing folder that inspires me. This tag was a combination of all three, and I love how it turned out.

A LITTLE SOMETHING
This tag started with my favourite stamp set, Wrapped In Christmas. The “a little something for you” sentiment is perfect for all kinds of occasions.
First I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of Whisper White Card using VersaMark Ink. Then I sprinkled the sticky ink with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and tapped off the excess. After removing some stray specks I finished by melting the rest of the powder with my Heat Tools set on 2 (high).
To cut out the sentiment I used the Label Me Fancy Punch, and then set it aside.
I found the leafy branch in the Forever Flourishing Dies and thought it complemented the curve of the sentiment. So I die-cut that from a scrap of Gold Foil Sheet. Then I tucked one of the leaves behind the sentiment and fixed the two pieces together with a little Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
TAG TEXTURE
It was only at this point that I began to think about the shape of the tag base. In fact I pulled out 5 different punches, but in the end a scrap of Merry Merlot Card that made the decision for me. As soon as I placed my assembled sentiment onto the 2-1/2″ x 3″ piece I knew it was perfect. So I went back to the Label Me Fancy Punch and used it to punch a small hole at the top of the card.

While I loved the size, shape and colour of the tag base, I did want to add some texture. To do this I used the dashed embossing folder from the Wrapped In Texture Embossing Folders pack.
With that done I glued a 2″ x 2-1/4″ scrap of Whisper White Card onto the back of the textured piece. This would give me somewhere to write the “to” and “from”. Then I added the assembled sentiment to the front using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally I attached some Linen Thread through the hole at the top and my textured all-occasion tag was complete.
PRODUCT LIST
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Forever Flourishing Dies in a bundle with the Forever Fern Stamp Set (not used today). Using the single ‘bundle’ item number meant I saved 10% off the cost of buying the two items separately. I’ve included a link to the bundle in case you want to look at this option.
