Of all the products being retired by Stampin’ Up! the one I will miss the most is the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. This has been a staple in my craft studio ever since its release and I can’t imagine ever getting rid of it. Like all other retiring products it’s now only available while stocks last. So I decided to use it on one final project and pair it with the Quite Curvy Stamp Set and coordinating Curvy Dies.

WHITE START
I began by using my Paper Trimmer to cut and score some Thick Whisper White Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create my card base.
Next, using a Blending Brush, I coloured the front of the card with a layer of Pool Party ink. Then I added more depth to the ‘sky’ by adding patches of Balmy Blue ink on top.
With that done I turned to the Quite Curvy Stamp Set and chose two small bird images.
First, using Mossy Meadow ink, I stamped the two birds onto some scraps of Thick Whisper White Card . Then I stamped one bird in the bottom right-hand corner on the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope. Finally I stamped one bird in the bottom right-hand corner of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Whisper White Card.
I’d decided to colour my birds using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers, so before going any further I put some scrap paper inside the envelope. This would stop any excess alcohol ink from bleeding through to the back. Then I began to colour the four birds.
First I used dark Flirty Flamingo to add a circle on the bird’s breast. Then I coloured over the whole of the underside of the bird with light Crumb Cake. This dulled down the pink and removed the hard edge. After doing this on one bird image I repeated this stage on the other two in turn. Then I coloured the back of each bird using the dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends.

Once all four birds were done I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to fix the Whisper White layer inside the card base. I also remembered to remove the scrap paper from inside the envelope too.
CURVY DIES
All that was left was to complete the front of the card and for that I started with the Curvy Dies.
I found the two dies that coordinate with the remaining bird images and cut them out first.
Then I took a 1-3/4″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Soft Sea Foam Card and cut that using the curved die with the circle edge detail.
Finally I was ready for the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder and put the die-cut Soft Sea Foam piece inside. Then I ran it through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine to create my textured grass layer. With that done I attached the ‘grass’ to the front of the card with liquid glue.
Now I could see where to place my sentiment. From the Quite Curvy Stamp Set I chose “thinking of you makes my day” and I carefully stamped it above the top of the ‘grass’ using Mossy Meadow ink. This was quite simple as the stamp set is made from clear photopolymer material. Then after adding the two die-cut birds with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals my project was complete.
I have a good friend and customer who loves English robins so that’s what I set out to create for this card. I think I succeeded. What do you think?
