Oh my, yesterday really got away from me! It started with an early medical appointment, then some quick errands, before visiting with a friend. The main reason was to drop off her latest Stampin’ Up! order but I stopped for a chat over coffee. She also loves to bake, so we had some of that too. We chatted for quite some time and I completely forgot I had a blog post to write, so albeit a day late here’s a quick and easy card featuring the Cutest Crew Stamp Set.

I began by cutting a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Lost Lagoon Card for my A2 tent-fold card base. With the long side at the top I scored the card at 4-1/4″, then folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.

Next I pulled out the faded seagull pattern from the Waterside Retreat 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. First I cut a 2-1/4″ x 6″ piece and glued it onto the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope. Then I trimmed off the excess paper with scissors, using the edge of the flap as a guide. After that I cut a 3″ x 4-1/4″ piece of the seagull paper and glued it onto the left side of the card base. Finally I cut a 1″ x 4″ strip of the same paper and glued that down the right-hand edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Basic White Card. Once I’d glued the assembled layer inside the card base I was ready for some stamping and colouring.

CUTEST CREATURES

I began by cutting a 2-3/8″ x 3-7/8″ piece of Basic White Card. Then from the Cutest Crew Stamp Set I chose ‘have the best day’ sentiment. Using Lost Lagoon ink I stamped my sentiment in the top right-hand corner. Then I went beck to the stamp set and chose the image of the three birds. Using Lost Lagoon ink again I stamped the birds in the centre of the white layer about 1/4″ from the bottom edge.

To colour in the little scene I decided to use the Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2. I started by colouring the first bird in Gorgeous Grape, then used Coastal Cabana on the second one. For the third bird I chose Flirty Flamingo before switching to Crushed Curry to colour all three beaks. Finally I scribbled some Garden Green pencil beneath birds for the grass.

With that done I cut a 2-1/2″ x 4″ piece of Berry Burst Card and glued the stamped scene on top. It was at this point I noticed the third bird looking at something in the grass and I had an idea. I wrapped some Linen Thread round the layer level with the bottom of the ‘grass’. Then I tied the ends in a simple knot right at the point that had the bird’s interest. Now I was ready to put Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the layer and add it to my card front. To finish I trimmed the ends of the Linen Thread quite short so now my pink bird looks like she’s found a worm!
