As we quickly approach the announcement of which products will be retiring I’m keeping a close eye on items showing ‘low inventory’. That’s because there’s a real chance once the current stock has gone there will be no more. One pack of Designer Series Paper (DSP) that’s not at risk (yet) is the Delicate Desert 12” x 12” paper. I bought it even though the Desert Details Stamp Set and coordinating dies didn’t appeal to me. I haven’t been disappointed by this paper which inspired me to create today’s card.

DELICATE DESERT
This green and white pattern seemed really calming and I thought it would be perfect for a sympathy card. I loved the soft colours too which inspired the finished project.
I began by cutting a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of the DSP and using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) mounted it onto a 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ layer of Mint Macaron Card.
Then I cut a 3/4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the DSP and glued that down the right-hand side of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card.
Finally I cut a 2-1/4″ x 6″ piece of the DSP and glued that to the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope. Then I trimmed off the excess paper with my Paper Snips using the edge of the flap as my guide.
For my card base I used my Paper Trimmer to cut and score some Soft Succulent Card. After folding the card along the scored line I sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. With that done I used liquid glue to fix the prepared Basic White layer on the inside.
SIMPLE TOUCHES
Now all I needed was a sentiment and a few finishing touches.
I started by choosing “With heartfelt sympathy” from the Inspired Thoughts Stamp Set. Using Evening Evergreen ink I stamped it onto some Basic White Card. Then I punched it out with the Label Me Fancy Punch.

Next I turned to the DSP and card layers amd wrapped some Sahara Sand 3/8″ Twill ribbon around them, 3/4″ from the top edge. After securing the ribbon on the back using Tear & Tape Adhesive I added the sentiment to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
While I liked the simplicity of the design I decided that I wanted a little extra detail and reached for the Festive Pearls. From the pack I chose the Soft Succulent pearls and added a line of three in the bottom right corner of the assembled layers. Then I attached the layers to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and my delicate symapthy card was complete.
I really love how this card turned out and once again I’m so glad I bought the Delicate Desert DSP. For more projects using this paper see these earlier blog posts:
PRODUCT LIST
RETIRING PREDICTION – While the Delicate Desert DSP is not currently showing as ‘low inventory’ it is very likely to be on the retiring list later this month. Also due to retire is the Soft Succulent Card and Evening Evergreen ink pad as these are both part of the 2021-2023 In Colors range. Finally the Inspired Thoughts Stamp Set is now a couple of years old and I fear that may be retired as well.
