I have a lots of stamp sets (more than I dare admit) so I also have lots of different sentiments. Sometimes though I like to be able to make up my own phrases, or add some personalisation to a project, and that’s where alphabet stamp sets come in. Mind you I suggest that you look carefully when selecting your letters or you might end up writing something you hadn’t planned, like I nearly did with the Pick a Pennant Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up! You see the Pick a Pennant Stamp Set has duplicates of some letters, so don’t do what I did and assume the letter that comes after the E is an F, because it could well be another E!
To be honest I didn’t think I needed another alphabet stamp set, but I was actually given this one for free at a recent Stampin’ Up! event I attended and as it turns out I love it. As well as having duplicates of some letters, it also has a couple of long bunting type images with separate stamps to add patterns to the individual pennants, as well as some smaller images to add just that little bit of additional interest.
So being Father’s Day today I thought it would be the perfect time to finally get the stamps inky with a simple Sunday project.
I started with a layer of Very Vanilla Card and used Pool Party ink to stamp the rounded bunting image three times. Then using Memento Tuxedo Black ink I stamped individual letters to spell out my Happy Fathers Day greeting onto the bunting. This was really easy as the stamp set is made of photopolymer which means that you can look through the stamp to get the placement exactly where you want it.
The little bird image, also from the Pick a Pennant Stamp Set, was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then coloured in with Crushed Curry ink using the solid image from the set.
Next using my Stampin’ Trimmer I cut and scored a piece of Pool Party Card, folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create my card base. The stamped layer was then fixed to the front with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
On another layer of Very Vanilla Card I stamped the bunting image once across the top with Pool Party ink and then added the bird to match the one on the front of the card. This layer was added to the inside of the card with liquid glue.
With one final bird stamped onto the front of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope in the bottom right-hand corner my project was complete.
BUNDLE BONUS
What I almost forgot to tell you is that this alphabet stamp set has one more trick up it’s sleeve, it can be purchased as part of a bundle with the coordinating Playful Pennants Framelits Dies. There’s two dies to cut out the two different shaped bunting images, and two dies that partially cut out a bunting shape, in addition there are four more dies to cut out the bird, bow, flower spray and tassel images in the set. So this is way more than just another alphabet stamp set.
You can buy the stamp set and dies separately but if you want both make sure you order them using the special bundle code as this will save you 10% off the cost of buying the two items separately. I didn’t use the dies on today’s project, but I’ve included a link to the bundle in the product list below so you can take a closer look if you’re interested.
