One of the things I like to remind my customers about is that almost all Designer Series Paper (DSP) retires at the end of the catalogue period in which they appear. This year, of all the DSP in the 2020/2021 Annual Catalogue only the In Good Taste 12″ x 12″ DSP is being carried over. For the most part I look forward to seeing new paper designs but there’s one particular issue I want to highlight. This is that when a particular paper pack that’s retiring coordinates with a stamp set, dies or punch that is not, or when I know a customer has bought the coordinating stamps or tools and may want to stock up on the paper. It never hurts to check little details like this while stocks are still available.

FOREVER GREENERY
The first Designer Series Paper pack I wanted to highlight is Forever Greenery. This 12″ x 12″ DSP coordinates with the Forever Fern Stamp Set and Forever Flourishing Dies. On my “hello” card I used the dies to cut out images from the DSP. For more details of this project see my blog post Forever Greenery surprised me.
In addition one of my favourite things about this paper are the combination of bold leafy patterns plus some simpler ones. I used a very bold striped pattern on this gift box created for my blog post Way to Goat with the puns.

There’s more subtle background designs too like this one I used on a get well card. I revealed this simple project in my blog post I’m planning to put my feet up eventually.

PEONY GARDEN
Another DSP pack that’s retiring while the stamp set and dies are not is Peony Garden. Although predominantly florals, I think the Petal Pink, Basic Gray and Gray Granite colour palette makes it quite versatile.
In my post Touched My Heart will retire soon I used a large peony pattern for an elegant sympathy card.

If you want a bright pop of colour that’s possible too with Peony Garden. I found that some of the designs look very striking when coloured with Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. I demonstrated this idea in my blog post Scripty 3D Embossing Folder’s last chapter.

WORLD OF GOOD DSP
Next, in contrast to Peony Garden, the World of Good DSP pack contains more masculine designs. I combined patterns from both packs on this vintage-style card in my blog post Miles apart but close at heart.

One of the most striking things about the World Of Good DSP is the gold foil on some patterns. It made for a striking birthday card in my blog post Taking up a masculine card challenge.

After all that gold, how about something a little more understated. This project was created for my blog post Campology for a masculine birthday card. I love the faded script design which is perfect for vintage-style projects like this next one.

I have to say that after revisiting these projects and the DSP packs I’m disappointed I haven’t used them more. So I’ve resolved to make the most of the new Designer Series Paper that will be available from May 4th. I’m working on my 2021/2022 Annual Catalogue sneak peeks so do watch for them on my blog from next week.
As well as the three Designer Series Paper packs highlighted here, there’s more on the Retiring List. To see what’s still available (and the current prices) visit the Last Chance section of my online store.
If you missed out on some of the Designer Series Paper that retired from the August to December 2020 Mini Catalogue I have great news. Some popular packs have appeared in the refreshed Clearance Rack but they may not last long. Check it out and place your order online while you still can.
