This week the What Will You Stamp? Challenge is #WWYS218 – Butterfly Gala. This is a really lovely set that’s being carried over into the new Stampin’ Up! 2019/2020 Annual Catalogue. Butterflies are so pretty and I can’t wait to see them now that the warmer weather has finally arrived. I’ve no doubt you’ll see lots of butterflies from the rest of the WWYS Design Team so as usual I opted for something a little different. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ink up Fairy Celebration one last time before it retires, and came up with this sweet gift tag.

FAIRY CELEBRATION MAGIC
When the Fairy Celebration Stamp Set was first released it coordinated with a butterfly punch that has now retired. So I decided to use a little masking and make it work with the new Butterfly Duet Punch.
First, using Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped the large butterfly image onto a 2″ x 3-1/2″ piece of Thick Very Vanilla Card, masking off the smaller image that’s attached. Next I stamped the same image onto a Full-Adhesive Post-It Note® and cut it out with Paper Snips. Then I covered the butterfly on the Very Vanilla Card with the mask, and stamped the fairy image over the top. Now when I removed the mask I had a fairy with new wings.
To create the second set of wings I chose a brand new product that I think will be a big hit. It’s called Perennial Essence 12″ x 12″ Vellum Cardstock. This pack contains 12 sheets of vellum, four each in So Saffron, Old Olive and Petal Pink. I chose the Petal Pink vellum for my fairy wings and stamped the large butterfly image on it using Tuxedo Black ink. Then I set it aside for a while to dry (it takes longer than regular cardstock).
With that done, I used the brush tip of the dark Mint Macaron marker to colour 12″ of Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine. Then I set that aside to dry too.
SIMPLE TOUCHES
While I was waiting I coloured in my fairy image using Stampin’ Blends. Light Petal Pink for the skin and wings, dark Mint Macaron for the dress and light Daffodil Delight for the hair.

To shape the tag I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. Next I used the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch to create a lacy piece from a strip of the Petal Pink vellum. Then I attached the vellum to the bottom of the tag with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
Now I was ready for the ‘may your wish come true’ sentiment from the Fairy Celebration Stamp Set. I stamped it on a 1/4″ strip of Thick Very Vanilla Card then fixed it to the bottom of the tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Next came the twine, cut into two 6″ pieces, folded in half and threaded through the slot at the top of the tag. Then I passed the cut ends through the loops and pulled to secure them.
FAIRY WINGS
All that was left was my vellum fairy wings and I used the Butterfly Duet Punch to punch them out. Then using my Paper Snips I trimmed off the little bit in the centre above and below the wings (designed to be stamped with the butterfly body).
It was when I folded the wings in half that I realised it was really hard to tell which side had been stamped and which was the ‘back’. The stamping was clearly visible from both sides, and actually that was perfect!

I used a little liquid glue down the fold in the wings to attach them to the fairy image and my project was complete.
I can’t tell you how pleased I am with how my tag turned out. It’s a fitting farewell to the Fairy Celebration Stamp Set, and a huge hello to that gorgeous new coloured vellum. I have a feeling you’ll be seeing a lot of that in the weeks and months to come.
#WWYS218 – BUTTERFLY GALA

Of course this project wouldn’t have been possible without the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set which is the focus of this week’s What Will You Stamp? challenge #WWYS218.
Do pop over to the What Will You Stamp? blog and check out the inspiring ideas from other members of the Design Team
If you have the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set we’d love you to join the fun and show us what you can stamp using at least one image from the set. Then upload it to the challenge gallery for us all to see.
At the end of the challenge we’ll randomly choose one person to be our weekly winner. They’ll get bragging rights and a winner’s badge for their social media. They’ll also receive an invitation to be our Guest Designer two week’s later. It might even be you!
