While hubby and I live in Canada, our daughter and her family live in the UK. It’s never really been an issue as we’ve always been able to visit when we wanted, but COVID has brought challenges. So we’re thankful for technology that allows us to chat via messaging or video chats. Photos are another way to keep in touch and when printed off and put into an album, they make very personal gifts. Keeping family close at heart was the inspiration for today’s quick project.

BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS
I began this project with the Beautiful Moments Stamp Set which I love. I’ve used this stamp set many times and when I opened the case I had some little masks already stamped and cut.
To make a mask I simply stamp my chosen image onto a Full-Adhesive Post-It® Note then cut around it using Paper Snips. In fact I usually cut two or three at the same time so I have masks ready for future projects.
The pocket photo album I bought in the Dollarstore takes 4″ x 6″ photos. I removed the boring front and back covers and measured one so I could create new ones. Then I cut two pieces of Pretty Peacock Card 4-5/8″ x 6-1/8″ for the covers, while for the stamped panel I cut the Very Vanilla Card to 4-3/8″ x 5-7/8″.
Next I stamped the lady and child image onto the Very Vanilla piece using Tuxedo Black ink. With that done I covered the image with one of the Post-It Note masks so I could work on the background. This was a quick and easy job using pieces of Stampin’ Sponge to add Seaside Spray ink for the sky and Pear Pizzazz for the ground.
FAMILY LOVE
Once the background sponging was finished I removed the mask so I could colour the image using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. I chose light and dark Mango Melody for the girl’s dress, with her hair in Bronze. For the lady I used light and dark Pretty Peacock for her skirt, with the top in light and dark Flirty Flamingo. I coloured the lady’s hair with light and dark Crumb Cake and then finished off all the skin with Ivory.

That just left the sentiment to add and I found the perfect one in the Lovely You Stamp Set. Using Tuxedo Black ink I stamped “love is what makes us family” in the left-hand corner of the sponged piece.
All I had to do now was mount the completed scene onto one of the Pretty Peacock pieces using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). Then I slid the assembled layers into the front pocket of the album before adding the other Pretty Peacock piece to the back. And with that my design was complete. All that’s needed now is to fill the album with treasured family photos.
