Today’s project is another one using the Phrases & Frames Stamp Set and coordinating dies. These items were originally released in the May to September Catalogue but are now part of the Online Exclusives range. The Phrases & Frames Dies were one of the first of the new ‘Impressions’ Dies, designed to give a deeply textured result. To get the best outcome you will need the new Impressions Plate. However the dies still work without it. Using the stamp set and dies together I created this elegant “happy anniversary” gift tag.

I began by cutting a 3″ x 6″ piece of Thick Basic White Card for my tag base. With the long side at the top I scored the card at 3″, then folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. With that done I opened up the card and punched a 1/8″ circle to the right of the crease, near the top. Then I cut 6″ of Baker’s Twine, threaded it through the hole and tied it in a simple knot.
From the Phrases & Frames Dies I found the #2 die (counting from the smallest up) and cut a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. Leaving the frame portion in the die, I set aside the centre section to use on a future project. Then on my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine I built the sandwich as follows: Plate 1 (base), Plate 2 (white die shim), Die containing the Gold Foil frame (flipped over so I could see the white side and the cutting edge of the die), Impressions Plate (soft), Plate 4 (grey Embossing Plate). With that done I ran the sandwich back through the machine. Note you do not use any of the clear cutting plates when using the Impressions Plate. Now when I removed the gold frame it was deeply embossed with a faux quilted look.
Next, using the same die I cut a piece of Thick Basic White Card. This time I set aside the white frame and kept the inner oval. Using VersaMark ink I stamped “Happy Anniversary” from the Phrases & Frames Stamp Set onto the white piece. Then I sprinkled the sticky ink with gold powder from the Metallics Wow! Embossing Powder pack. After tapping off the excess powder, I removed a few stray specks and melted the rest using my Heat Tool Set on 2 (high).

While the heat embossing was cooling I flipped over the gold frame and put a piece of sellotape across the hole. Then having flipped it back over I pressed the sentiment piece into the hole in the frame. With that done I decorated the assembled sentiment with three Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels. Finally I put Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back and added the completed piece to the front of the tag base.
If you were wondering what the same die would look like without the Impressions Plate step, see my earlier blog post Moonlit Flora showcase.
So, are you impressed with the depth of the quilted effect? I’d love you to leave a comment below and tell me if you’re tempted to add the Impressions Plate to your wish list.

BUNDLE BONUS: I bought the Phrases & Frames Stamp Set and coordinating Dies using a single ‘bundle’ item number. This meant I saved 10% off the cost of buying the two items separately. I’ve included links for both options below so you can explore these options further if you wish. As mentioned, this bundle (and the individual pieces) are now part of the Online Exclusives range. This means that they may be discontinued at short notice.
