Looking through my stamps recently I realised that I’ve been neglecting the Fern & Flora Stamp Set. I know that’s hard to believe considering how obsessed I’ve been with this suite. But while I’ve concentrated on the dies and coordinating Moonlit Flora Designer Series Paper (DSP), the stamp set has seen considerably less action. One of the things I loved about the stamp set was the large fern image but for some reason it’s stayed uninked, so today I decided to remedy that with a quick thank you card.

I began with that large fern image and a Mossy Meadow ink pad. I cut a 3-3/8″ a 4-5/8″ piece of Basic White Card and stamped the fern in the centre at an angle. Then I stamped the fern across the bottom left corner of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. Finally I stamped the image in the bottom left corner on the front of a Basic White Medium Envelope.

SIMPLE FERN COLOURING

After sliding some scrap paper into the envelope I set work colouring the images using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. First I coloured the each image with light Granny Apple Green. Then I switched to light Old Olive and added a little colour from the bottom of each ‘leaf’ up about halfway. Finally I added a little dark Old Olive from the bottom of each ‘leaf’ over about half of the light Old Olive. That’s it. No blending today.

Now that the colouring was complete I cut a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Mossy Meadow Card. With the long side at the top I scored the card at 4-1/4″, folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue I added the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Basic White to the inside of the card base.

Going back to the Fern & Flora Stamp Set for my sentiment I chose “thankful for you”. Using Basic Black Hybrid ink I stamped the sentiment in the space towards the top of the fern on the other Basic White layer. With that done I cut a 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ piece of Granny Apple Green Card. Using liquid glue I added this piece to the front of the card base at a slight angle. Then I glued the Basic White piece on top and my easy card was done.

PRODUCT LIST

BUNDLE BONUS: I bought the Fern & Flora Stamp Set and coordinating dies (not used today) using a single ‘bundle’ item number. This saved me 10% off the cost of buying the two items separately. I’ve included a link to the bundle below in case you want to explore that option.
