Every now and again while I’m crafting an idea pops into my head. Some of them work, some don’t. And some, seem so obvious I wonder why I haven’t tried it before. So it was today, when I decided to use foil sheet to create a dress for one of the ladies in the Beautiful You Stamp Set. Paper piecing on an image isn’t new, but adding embossed details to the foil is (for me at least).

BEAUTIFUL YOU
I began with a 2″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Card. Then to shape the top I used the Delightful Tag Topper Punch.
I’d already decided to use Pretty Peacock as my ink colour so my next task was to colour the ribbon. I cut 6″ of the Whisper White 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle and coloured each of the spots with the light Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blends alcohol marker. Then I flipped the ribbon over and coloured the back of the spots too before setting it aside to dry.
Now I was ready to start stamping with the retiring Beautiful You Stamp Set. I chose the image of the lady with the hat. Using Tuxedo Black ink I first stamped her onto the tag base. Then I stamped her onto a Full-Adhesive Post-It® Note.
With that done I used Pretty Peacock ink to stamp the two sentiments on that tag.
SHINY FOIL WITH ADDED ACCENTS.
It was at this point that I pulled out the retiring Noble Peacock Foil Sheets. I chose a scrap of the Pretty Peacock foil and stuck my stamped Post-It Note onto the shiny surface. Then using Paper Snips I cut out the dress and the main part of the hat.
I was just about to fix the pieces onto the tag when I remembered the rest of the image. So before going any further I coloured the image on the tag. First I did the ‘inside’ of the hat with the light Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blends. Then I coloured the arms, face and neck using the Ivory Stampin’ Blends.
Now I was ready to attach the foil pieces using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). But as I started to peel off the Post-It Note from the surface I realised that the detail from the stamp would be lost. And it was then that I had my idea…

Before removing the Post-It Note I picked up my Take Your Pick tool and used the small scoring stylus to draw over the ‘crease’ lines on the dress. Then I used the scoring stylus on the line across the middle of the hat. When I finally removed the Post-It Note pieces, there were the details from the image embossed into the surface of the foil.
To complete my project I glued the foil pieces over the image stamped on the tag. Then I threaded the altered ribbon through the hole at the top and tied it in a simple knot.
Pressing the details into the foil with a stylus is such a quick and easy technique, I wonder why I hadn’t thought of it before.
