As the world marks the 20th anniversary of the attack on the twin towers in New York, so much has changed. And yet so little has changed too. I remember a colleague rushing in from the factory floor telling us to turn on the news. Then time stood still. Although we were in the UK we spent the rest of the day watching the news in disbelief as a terrible chapter in history was being written. But as the worst of humanity was being revealed, so too was the best. In Gander, a small town of around 10,000 people in Newfoundland, Canada, the locals came together as aircraft after aircraft was diverted there. By the end of that day and during the following week they welcomed almost 7000 complete strangers with friendship and kindness. May we all be as open and accepting as those who saw a human need and stepped up.

ENCIRCLED IN FRIENDSHIP
It was that thought of friendship and kindness that inspired my project today.
I began with a 2″ x 6″ piece of Very Vanilla Card. Then I shaped the top and added the ribbon slot using the Fancy Tag Topper Punch.
Next I chose my sentiment from the Encircled in Friendship Stamp Set, “In a world where you can be anything, thank you for being kind”. Using Early Espresso ink I stamped the sentiment towards the top of the bookmark.
Then from the Blackberry Beauty 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) I found a wide floral border. I cut a 2″ x 4″ strip and then cut around the right-hand edge and top. With that done I attached the DSP to the bookmark using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
Finally I threaded some gold 3/8″ Fine Art Ribbon through the slot and secured it in place with Mini Glue Dots. With that my bookmark was complete.
It’s a simple bookmark with a simple message.

PRODUCT LIST
BUNDLE – I bought the Encircled in Friendship Stamp Set (with the Encircled in Beauty Dies – not used today) using a single ‘bundle’ item number. This meant I saved 10% off the cost of buying the two items separately. I’ve included a link to the bundle in case you want to explore this option.
