I’ve been feeling unwell for a couple of days, and while I’m CoVid negative it’s not pleasant. Therefore my plan for today is to curl up on the sofa with a good book. So I suppose it should come as no surprise that today’s project is a bookmark. It was the very first thing I thought of when I saw this tall, narrow friendship sentiment. I also have an idea for combining it with the doorway from the Warm Welcome Bundle, but that will have to wait until another day.

FLOWERS OF FRIENDSHIP
I actually started with a bookmark base that I’d made a while ago while experimenting with the Very Best Trio Punch. First I took a 2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Thick Basic White Card and angled the two top corners using the straight corner option on the punch. I must say that on such a narrow piece of card I didn’t like the proportions, so I then trimmed 1/4″ off the top. That was much better. With that done I went back to the Very Best Trio Punch to add the ribbon slot.
Now I was ready to get the Flowers of Friendship Stamp Set inky. I finally decided to get this set as I already had the coordinating Flowers & Leaves Punch. So I started by stamping the sentiment on the bookmark using Evening Evergreen ink. Then I stamped the largest flower image above that.
Colouring the image was quick and easy using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. For the petals I used light and dark Daffodil Delight, before swapping to light and dark Soft Succulent for the leaves.
Finally I cut two 6″ pieces of white twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack. After folding it in half I passed the loops through the slot in the bookmark. Then I threaded the cut ends through the loops and pulled gently to secure the twine in place. And just like that my bookmark was complete and I’m ready to relax.
Meanwhile, in case you missed it… I created this short video showing how I make sure the ribbon slot on the Very Best Trio Punch is perfectly placed.
And if you missed the announcement about the new Warm Welcome Bundle you’ll find that in my blog post Welcome new bundle.
PRODUCT LIST
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Very Best Trio Punch in a bundle with the Very Best Occasions Stamp Set (not used today). Using the single ‘bundle’ item number to order meant I saved 10% off the cost of buying these two products separately. I’ve included a link to the bundle in case you want to explore this option for yourself.
