So yesterday was a both exciting and frustrating. Exciting because I received an order from Stampin’ Up! including August’s Product of the Month; the Glow of Harvest 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) Pack. But frustrating because after making a project my internet and/or computer refused to cooperate and I was unable to complete my blog post. So despite being a full day late, here it is… a friendship thank you card. Of course you’ll know it’s for a very good friend because I included two different types of embellishments!

I began like I very often do, by cutting a 6″ x 6″ piece of patterned paper. The design I chose has a very definite direction so I had to pay attention when when cutting and assembling the various pieces. With the paper the right way up I first cut a 2-1/4″ high x 6″ wide piece across the top. Then I glued it to the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope and cut off the excess with scissors, using the edge of the flap as a guide.
For my A2 card base I chose Pecan Pie Card and cut a piece 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Then with the long side at the top I scored the card at 4-1/4″ and folded it along the scored line before sharpening the crease with a Bone Folder. Returning to my DSP I cut a strip 3/4″ high x 6″ wide and then trimmed that to 4″ wide. After cutting a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card I glued the narrow strip of DSP along the bottom edge, then glued the assembled layer inside my card base.
LAST GLOW OF HARVEST DSP
Now all I had left to do was decorate the front of the card. So I started with what was left of the DSP and cut it to 3″ high x 4-1/4″ wide (and set the 1-3/4″ piece aside for another project). Next I cut a 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Golden Glow Card and glued my DSP on top leaving an even border at the top and bottom. Then I glued the layers onto my card front 1″ from the top edge.

For my sentiment I turned to the Sending Salutations Stamp Set and chose “thank you so much for your friendship”. Using Early Espresso ink I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of Basic White Card and punched it out with a 1-7/8″ Circle Punch. Then I punched out a piece of Golden Glow Card using a 2″ Circle Punch. However instead of gluing the sentiment on top leaving an even border, I pushed it up so the border was wider at the bottom then the sides. Having done that I cut straight across the top of the circles before adding the sentiment to the top edge of the DSP layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finally I decided to add a line of 3 clear 5 mm circles from the Dewdrops Embellishments pack below the bottom right-hand edge of the DSP layer. Then to finish off the sentiment I also added a 6mm Golden Glow butterfly from the 2026-2028 InColor® Butterflies.
Once again I’d let the patterned paper do the work and my card was complete in next to no time. Please leave a comment below and let me know what you think.
