How is it January 5th already? I seem to be missing some days here. Still, now my new products from the Stampin’ Up! January to April 2024 Mini Catalogue have arrived I couldn’t resist having a little play. The Heartfelt Hexagon Stamp Set and Punch have been available for while as they were released early, but the paper is very new. The whole pack of Forever Love 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) is gorgeous but today I couldn’t resist this gold foil pattern on a Pretty Peacock background.
Having chosen my patterned paper I decided to use a 6″ x 6″ piece to decorate the front and inside of the card, together with the envelope.
So having cut the 6″ x 6″ piece from the sheet I cut off a 2-1/4″ x 6″ section. Next, using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I glued the DSP onto the flap of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. Then I simply trimmed off the excess with Paper Snips, using the edge of the flap as my guide.
Going back to my DSP I cut a 3/4″ x 5-1/4″ strip, before cutting a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Very Vanilla Card. Then using liquid glue once more, I attached the paper down the right-hand edge of the card. This would line the card base so I set it aside for the moment.
Now I needed an A2 card base and choose Thick Very Vanilla Card for that. I began by using my Paper Trimmer to cut a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece. Then with the long side at the top I used the scoring blade to score the card at 4-1/4″. Finally I folded the card and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder, before gluing the prepared Very Vanilla piece on the inside.
All I had left was a 3″ x 6″ piece of the DSP so I trimmed it down to 3″ x 5-1/2″, and cut a 3-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Pretty Peacock Card. Then I glued the DSP to the card leaving an even border on each side. With that done I mounted the assembled layers down the centre of my card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Now I needed a sentiment and for that I turned to the Heartfelt Hexagon Stamp Set and coordinating punch.
I began by stamping the more detailed hexagon border image onto a scrap of Thick Very Vanilla Card using Pretty Peacock ink. Then inside that border I stamped “sending you lots of love & hugs”.
Having done that I simply slid the card into the punch and flipped the punch over to check the placement. Once I was happy the border was evenly centred I punched it out. Then to finish I put Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back and attached the punched piece to the card front. In next to no time my card was complete.
I love how this project turned out. Although the layout is quite simple, the gold foil detail on the paper adds an extra special touch to the card and envelope. What do you think?
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Heartfelt Hexagon Stamp Set in a bundle with the coordinating Heartfelt Hexagon Punch. Buying the two items using the single ‘bundle’ item number saved me 10% off the cost of buying them separately. I’ve included both options below in case you want to compare them.
