I haven’t blogged on a Thursday for quite some time but I had to join the Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop. This month their theme is “Anything but a card” and that fitted nicely with the project I’d just completed. I’d already planned to use the Cutest Crew Stamp Set and coordinating Dies I’d just got, however I was distracted when another order arrived containing the new Stampin’ Hot Foil System. So having created some gorgeous golden letters as my first test of the hot foil process I simply had to use them too!

I began by choosing a leafy background design from the Cute As A Bug 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. Using liquid glue I attached the DSP to the front and back of a small composition book. Then I trimmed off the excess with scissors using the edge of the notebook cover as a guide.

Next I pulled out the Cutest Crew Stamp Set and stamped the line of cats on a scrap of White Willow Card with Basic Black Hybrid Ink. After giving the ink time to dry I then coloured in my cats using a variety of Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. With that done I cut out the line of cats using the coordinating Die. But then the UPS man arrived.

HOT FOIL ALPHABET

I already knew what was in the box so I didn’t really have to open it right away. But it’s important to check a delivery immediately for anything that might be damaged or missing, right? Well that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. However once I’d seen everything I simply couldn’t help myself!

I set up the system and immediately created a set of gorgeous gold foil letters using the largest foiling die from the Luxe Alphabet & Numbers Dies set. Then I put some Adhesive Sheet on the back before using the corresponding cutting die in the set to cut out all 26 letters in one go.

From there I went back to my notebook and glued a 1″ wide strip of dark Two-Tone Mossy Meadow Card down the right-hand edge of the front cover. Once again I trimmed off the excess with scissors and I was ready to finish my project.

I began by removing the adhesive backing from the letters N, O, T and E and pressing them onto the Mossy Meadow strip starting from the top. Then as I was considering the best placement of the final pieces I decided to trim the overlong row of cats immediately after the third one (counting from the left). This (almost) black cat was sitting up with his front paws out like he was reaching for something, so that’s when I decided to place the S at an angle as if the naughty kitty had pushed it over. With that decision made I glued the cats and final letter into place.

Finally I cut three small butterflies from White Willow Card using another of the dies in the Cutest Crew Dies set. After colouring them with Golden Glow Stampin’ Blends I glued them around the letters and my first project featuring the Hot Foil was complete. I hope you like it.
