It’s the first Wednesday in the month and that means it’s time for another IDEAS Blog Hop. This month our theme is “Holidays”. In crafting circles the holiday that immediately comes to mind is Christmas. But as someone originally from the UK, the word “holidays” is synonymous with vacations. That made me think of the Beside Me Stamp Set with images of adults and children spending quality time together. So I decided to create three coordinating projects, one for my blog and the other two for the IDEAS Tutorial PDF.

READING AND RIDING
When I’m not spending my holidays on family-focussed activities I love to settle down with a good book. So for this project I started with a 2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then from the Beside Me Stamp Set I chose the image with the child learning to ride a bike. Using Tuxedo Black ink I stamped this image towards the bottom of the card strip. Above that I stamped the small image of a trio of flying birds.
Next I choose a variety of Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers to colour the image. I began by using Ivory for the skin, before choosing light Cajun Craze for the man’s hair and shoes. For his clothes I used light and dark Gray Granite.
Then I used light Crumb Cake for the child’s shoes and hair, and to add some ‘ground’ below the image. This was followed by dark Crumb Cake marker on the child’s shorts. Switching to light and dark Smoky Slate I coloured the bike. Finally I chose dark Pool Party for the child’s T-shirt, and dark Pumpkin Pie for their cap.
With the image coloured I cut a 2-1/4″ x 5-3/4″ piece of Misty Moonlight Card. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I mounted the stamped and coloured layer on top leaving an even border on all sides.
To finish I punched a hole at the top using the slot option on the Very Best Trio Punch. Then I threaded 6″ of Night of Navy 3/8″ Bordered Ribbon through the slot. Once the ribbon was secured in place with Mini Glue Dots my first project was done.
BESIDE ME AND MORE
So with my blog project out of the way let me tell you a little more about this month’s IDEAS Tutorial Bundle. The July “Holidays” PDF contains 77 pages featuring 27 projects from 14 different designers. The collage below provides a little sneak peek of what’s inside. I’m pretty sure you can spot one of mine.

For my PDF projects I created a card and a photo album using the two other images from the Beside Me Stamp Set. I also used the same colour scheme throughout to create a coordinated set of projects that would make a great gift.
If you’d like a copy of the IDEAS Tutorial Bundle for your own personal use, or even to use in your classes, there are three different ways to get it:
- Place an order via my online store for $45CAD (before shipping and taxes) using my July 2023 Host Code H2RJKB6D. Make sure to allow Stampin’ Up! to share your contact details so I can e-mail the tutorial to you. If your order is over $200CAD don’t use the Host Code or you’ll miss out on Stampin’ Rewards. However, so long as I have access to your contact details I’ll still send you the PDF.
- Join Stampin’ Up! and my Crafty Canadians team, and you’ll get this IDEAS tutorial for free.
- Buy the tutorial. Contact me at tutorials@papercraftwithme.com for more information.
Once you’ve received the bundle, please remember not to share or distribute printed or electronic copies of the tutorials. The IDEAS Team has worked hard to provide these exclusive projects for your own personal use. However, if you know someone who would like their own copy of the tutorial bundle, simply ask them to contact me about it. Thank you for your support.
So that’s it from me for today, but please visit Jacqui Lawrence on the next leg of our blog hop by clicking the ‘next’ button below…
Links to all the products I used to create the bookmark are in the table below. Product lists and instructions for the card and photo album are in the Tutorial Bundle.
