It’s the first Wednesday of the month and that means it’s time for the IDEAS Blog Hop. This month our Tutorial PDF bundle is all about “cards that move” and there are some amazing ideas. My contribution is an interactive card project using the Give It A Whirl Dies. For my blog post though I wanted to show you another use for these dies when you don’t want to make an interactive card. Extra parts and pieces makes the set really versatile as my baby card shows to great effect.

CUTE ELEPHANT BABY
I started my project with the cute sitting elephant from the retiring Elephant Parade Stamp Set. Using Basic Gray ink I stamped him onto a scrap of Basic White Card. Then I coloured him in using the light and dark Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.
Then on a scrap of Thick Basic White Card I stamped the “sweet little one” sentiment (also from the Elephant Parade Stamp Set).

From there my next thought was to find a background for this baby card. In the end I chose the dotted Smoky Slate sheet from the retiring Neutrals 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper pack. This one sheet would form the coordinating feature for my project.
I began by cuttting a 2-1/4″ x 6″ piece of the DSP and attached it to the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). Then I trimmed off the excess paper with my Paper Snips, using the edge of the flap as a guide.
Going back to the DSP next I cut a 3/4″ x 6″ strip, then trimmed it down to 5-1/4″ long. Using liquid glue again I fixed the narrow strip down the right-hand edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. Then I added a 1/8″ x 5-1/4″ strip of retiring Blushing Bride Card up against the left edge of the DSP.
Finally I trimmed the remaining 3″ wide piece of DSP to 5-1/2″ and glued it to a 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Blushing Bride Card.
WITHOUT THE WHIRL
I was almost ready to pull all the pieces together, but first I needed the Give It A Whirl Dies. Ignoring the main dies in the set I selected the circle die with a scalloped edge. Using this die I cut around my little elephant image. Then I used the same die to cut a piece of Blushing Bride Card.
To cut out the sentiment I used another die from the set, the rectangle. This is actually one of the four dies designed to cut the peek-a-boo windows for interactive cards.
For my card base I used my Paper Trimmer to cut and score some Thick Basic White Card. After folding the card along the scored line I sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. Then I glued the assembled Basic White layer on the inside.

Turning to the front of the card base I started by gluing the layered DSP down the centre. Then I glued the two scalloped rings together with the Blushing Bride ring on on top. Next I glued the circular frame to the DSP layer, before adding the die cut elephant image in the centre.
Finally using Stampin’ Dimensionals I added the sentiment below the framed elephant, and just like that my sweet baby card was complete.

WHIRL, WOBBLE AND MORE
So with my blog project out of the way let me tell you a little more about this month’s IDEAS Tutorial Bundle. The April “Cards That Move” PDF contains 64 pages featuring 13 amazing projects from 13 different designers. There’s cards that spin, wobble, slide, pop put and more, using a variety of products from Stampin’ Up! The collage below provides a little sneak peek of what’s inside. I wonder if you can spot part of the Give It A Whirl card project I contributed to this great bundle.

If you’d like a copy of the Tutorial Bundle for your own personal use, or even to use in your classes, there are three different ways to get it:
- Place an order via my online store for $45CAD (before shipping and taxes) using my April 2023 Host Code K2FDZPU3. Make sure to allow Stampin’ Up! to share your contact details so I can e-mail the tutorial to you. If your order is over $200CAD don’t use the Host Code or you’ll miss out on Stampin’ Rewards. However, so long as I have access to your contact details I’ll still send you the PDF.
- Join Stampin’ Up! and my Crafty Canadians team, and you’ll get this IDEAS tutorial for free.
- Buy the tutorial. Contact me at tutorials@papercraftwithme.com for more information.
Once you’ve received the bundle, please remember not to share or distribute printed or electronic copies of the tutorials. We’ve worked hard to provide these exclusive projects for your personal use. However if you know someone who would like their own copy of the tutorial bundle, please ask them to contact me about it. Thank you for your support.
So that’s it from me for today, but please visit Simone Bartrum on the next leg of the blog hop by clicking on the ‘NEXT’ button below.
