It’s the first Wednesday of the month and that means it’s time for another IDEAS blog hop. This month our theme is “That’s so suite of you”. The entire team have designed projects using not just a stamp set and dies (or punch), but other items designed to coordinate with them. I decided to use three of the four items from the Just Kiddin’ Suite. My favourite part has to be the Just Kiddin’ 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack that includes some inspirational diverse and inclusive images.
PERENNIAL POSTAGE START
I began my A2 card by using my Paper Trimmer to cut a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Pretty Peacock Card. With the long side at the top I used the (lighter coloured) scoring blade to score the card at 4-1/4″. Then I folded the card along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Next I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card to line the card base and from the Kiddin’ Around Stamp Set I took the star image. Using Soft Sea Foam ink I stamped the stars across the top of the Basic White Card. With that done I cut out the layer using the #6 (largest) die in the Perennial Postage Dies set. Finally using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the die-cut layer inside the card base.
Now I wanted to use the stars to add some coordination to the front of the card. So I started with a 3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″ piece of Soft Sea Foam Card. This time I used the Soft Sea Foam ink to stamp the stars over the whole card layer. Then with that done I cut out the layer using the #5 rectangle die from the Perennial Postage Dies (counting from the smallest up). Finally, using liquid glue I mounted the die-cut layer on the front of the card base.
Before putting away the stamp and ink pad I covered the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope with stars. At last I was ready to begin working on the focal point of my card project.
As the stamp set was already there on my desk it made sense to stamp the sentiment next. For this I chose “you sparkle every day” and a Pretty Peacock ink pad. After stamping the sentiment onto a scrap of Basic White Card I cut it out using the #2 rectangle die from the Perennial Postage Dies set. Then I set the die-cut sentiment aside while I prepared the other layers.
JUST KIDDIN’ INCLUSIVITY
The Just Kiddin’ DSP has a variety of inclusive images and I chose one of a child with glasses and a cochlear implant. This was pretty simple to fussy-cut using my Paper Snips. With that done I used a little liquid glue to fix it to the right-hand side of the sentiment.
Picking up the sparkle theme I cut a 1″ x 5″ piece of the champagne colour in the More Dazzle 6″ x 6″ Specialty Paper pack. Using liquid glue once more I attached the strip to the card front about 3/8″ from the bottom of the background layer.
As I thought about where the assembled sentiment was going to go I realised the child might look as if they were floating in midair. So I turned to the Kiddin’ Around Dies and picked out the long oval die. After using the die to cut a scrap of Crushed Curry Card I glued it behind the child’s feet. That was much better!
With that done I covered the back of the rug, child and sentiment with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. Once the assembled piece was attached to the card front my project was finally complete.
The Just Kiddin 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Stampin’ Up! includes diverse images of children. The first thing I noticed were the variety of skin colours and hair types. Then as I looked more closely I noticed a child with a prosthetic leg, one with vitiligo, several wearing glasses, and one in a wheelchair, as well as a child wearing headphones (autistic?) and one with a service dog. There could also be others I’ve missed. Check out all the designs in the Just Kiddin’ DSP pack for yourself by clicking through the various images here.
NOT KIDDIN’ NOW
So now that’s out of the way let me tell you about this month’s IDEAS Tutorial Bundle. The February “That’s so suite of you” PDF contains 78 pages with 39 projects from 15 designers. The collage below offers a little sneak peek of what’s inside. You’ll probably be able to spot part of one of the two additional projects I created using the Just Kiddin’ Suite.
If you’d like a copy of the IDEAS Tutorial Bundle for your own personal use, or even to use in your classes, there are three different ways to get it:
- Place an order via my online store for $45CAD (before shipping and taxes) using my February Host Code R6P4EBXT. Make sure to allow Stampin’ Up! to share your contact details so I can e-mail the tutorial to you. If your order is over $200CAD don’t use the Host Code or you’ll miss out on Stampin’ Rewards. However, so long as I have access to your contact details I’ll still send you the PDF.
- Join Stampin’ Up! and my Crafty Canadians team, and you’ll get this IDEAS tutorial for free. It’s just another reason to take advantage this month’s extra special joining offer!
- Buy the tutorial for $20CAD. Contact me at email@example.com for more information.
Once you’ve received the bundle, please remember not to share or distribute printed or electronic copies of the tutorials. The IDEAS Team has worked hard to provide these exclusive projects for your own personal use. However, if you know someone who would like a copy of the tutorial bundle, simply ask them to contact me about it. Thank you for your support.
And now for more suite projects from the IDEAS team, simply click on the links below or use the Previous Blog and Next Blog links. You’re currently at number 11 Tracy Elsom – Papercraft With Me (Canada).
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Kiddin’ Around Stamp Set and Dies together using a single “bundle” item number. This meant I saved 10% off the cost of buying the two items separately. Also available in a bundle is the Perennial Postage Dies with the Perennial Postage Stamp Set (not used today). I’ve included links to both bundles in case you want to explore these options further.
FREE JUST KIDDIN’ PAPER – Until February 29th (but only while stocks last) you could get the Just Kiddin’ DSP for FREE! Simply place an order for at least $60 CAD (before shipping and taxes) and you’ll qualify for a free Sale-A-Bration item. Then use the special item number 165712 to select the paper. Just think, you could order the Kiddin’ Around Bundle and immediately qualify to get the coordinating DSP for free. But remember once Sale-A-Bration ends on February 29th, so does this offer!
