It’s the first Wednesday of the month and that means it’s time for another IDEAS blog hop. This month our theme is “Stunning scraps”. The entire team have designed projects using scraps of all kinds. Many of the team decided to work with paper scraps and I’m amazed by all the different ways they used them. Me? Well once again I’m thinking outside the box. So instead of card or paper scraps, my projects focus on using those scraps of ribbon that are too short to tie into a bow.

RIBBON ENDS
Ribbon is not always the cheapest product to buy and for that reason I hate to waste even the smallest pieces. So as a result I have a jar on my desk where I put my scraps of ribbon and twine. Having them in a clear jar where I can see them reminds me to use the scraps rather than hoarding them. Today’s project uses just a 2-1/4″ piece!
I began by choosing the “Thinking of you” sentiment from the Very Best Occasions Stamp Set. Using Tuxedo Black Ink I stamped it onto a scrap of Thick Basic White Card. Then I cut it out using the #3 circle die from the Styish Shapes Dies (counting from the smallest up).
Just below the sentiment I used small dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to attach three Daffodil Delight Loose Frosted Dots. Then I flipped the piece over. After folding my scrap of Gold & Vanilla 3/8″ Satin Edged Ribbon in half I fixed it to the back of the sentiment piece (behind the embellishments) using a little Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Now that the ribbon was secure I cut a little V at each end to give it a finished look.
QUICK CARD LAYERS
The rest of the project came togetehr really quickly and I started by using my Paper Trimmer to cut and score some Thick Basic White Card. After folding it along the scored line I sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Next, from the new Hello, Irresistible 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack I chose a yellow and green leafy design. First I cut a 2-1/4″ x 6″ piece and glued it to the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope. Then I trimmed off the excess paper with my Paper Snips using the edge of the flap as a guide.

Going back to the DSP I cut a 5-1/2″ x 3″ piece and glued that against the left edge of a 3-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ layer of Daffodil Delight Card. Then using Stampin’ Dimensionals I fixed the layers to the card front up againt the crease. With that done I added my assembled sentiment with more Stampin’ Dimensionals.
That just left a 3/4″ strip from my original sheet of DSP and I trimmed that down to 5-1/4″. Using liquid glue I fixed the DSP down the right-hand edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. Then up against the left edge of the DSP strip I added a 1/8″ x 5-1/4″ strip of Daffodil Delight Card. Finally I glued the assembled layer inside the card base and my project was complete.
Now I have one less piece of ribbon in my scrap jar. While the ribbon I used was 2-1/4″ long, I could equally have used two 1″ pieces to create the same effect. With thinking like that you can see why I find it hard to throw away my scraps!
LOTS MORE STUNNING SCRAPS
So let me tell you a little more about this month’s IDEAS Tutorial Bundle. The March “Stunning Scraps” PDF contains an amazing 74 pages featuring 38 projects from 14 different designers. There’s cards, plus other projects for every taste and ability using a variety of current products from Stampin’ Up! The collage below provides a little sneak peek of what’s inside. I wonder if you can spot part of one of the two projects I contributed to this great bundle.

If you’d like a copy of the Tutorial Bundle for your own personal use, or even to use in your classes, there are three different ways to get it:
- Place an order via my online store for $45CAD (before shipping and taxes) using my March 2023 Host Code MYEU9N6X. Make sure to allow Stampin’ Up! to share your contact details so I can e-mail the tutorial to you. If your order is over $200CAD don’t use the Host Code or you’ll miss out on Stampin’ Rewards. However, so long as I have access to your contact details I’ll still send you the PDF.
- Join Stampin’ Up! and my Crafty Canadians team, and you’ll get this IDEAS tutorial for free.
- Buy the tutorial. Contact me at tutorials@papercraftwithme.com for more information.
Once you’ve received the bundle, please remember not to share or distribute printed or electronic copies of the tutorials. We’ve worked hard to provide these exclusive projects for your personal use. If you know someone who would like to purchase the tutorial bundle, please direct them to me to obtain their own copy. Thank you for your support.
