It’s August 1st and time for another IDEAS blog hop. This month our theme is “enjoying Sale-A-Bration” so the IDEAS team have designed and created projects with celebrations in mind. Of course it goes without saying that they also use exclusive products from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure. For my Tutorial Bundle projects I decided to use the gorgeous Wonderful World 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper. It’s only available as part of a free bundle, so I used the coordinating stamp set to create two additional projects here on my blog.

ORCHID OASIS
Most of my followers will know that purple is most definitely my favourite colour. So it seems odd to me that I’ve had a hard time with the new Orchid Oasis colour from the 2022-2024 In Colors. I can’t put my finger on why, but this colour just didn’t excite me. That was until I sat down to design four projects using the same colour scheme. All I can say is now I’m completely smitten with this bluey-purple shade.

I began by using my Paper Trimmer to cut a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Orchid Oasis Card. Then with the long side at the top scored it at 4-1/4″. With that done I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create my card base.
Next I cut a 4-1/2″ x 5-3/4″ piece of Orchid Oasis Card and embossed it using the Fern 3D Embossing Folder. Then I trimmed the embossed piece to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ before attaching it to the card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
I wasn’t quite finished with the Orchid Oasis Card yet and cut one last piece at 2-3/8″ x 5-1/2″. Using a Blending Brush I added a layer of Orchid Oasis ink in a 1″ border down each of the long sides thus making this card mat darker. Then I trimmed off a 1/8″ strip so that mat was now 2-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. Meanwhile I set the skinny strip aside for my second project while I continued making the card.
WONDERFUL WORLD STAMP SET
Now I was ready for some stamping using the rose image from the Wonderful World Stamp Set and Orchid Oasis ink. First I stamped the rose in the centre of a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Basic White Card. Then below that I stamped the simple “Congrats” sentiment. Using liquid glue I mounted the stamped layer onto the wide inked Orchid Oasis Card strip. Finally using Stampin’ Dimensionals I attached the completed layers to the embossed card front.

Next I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card and stamped the rose in the bottom right-hand corner. Using liquid glue I fixed this layer inside the card base.
Finally I stamped the rose on the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope to complete my first card project.
With that done I continued playing with the coordinating Wonderful World paper to create a different card and 3D project for this month’s exclusive IDEAS tutorial bundle.
COORDINATING GIFT TAG
Now I was hooked and didn’t want to stop playing so decided to use what I had on my desk to create a bonus project for today’s blog post. So I set to work creating a gift tag to coordinate with my original card.
First, from the Tailor Made Tags Dies I chose the largest of the dies with the fancy top. Then I used the die to cut out some Basic White Card for my tag base. Next I placed a 1/2″ x 2″ strip of Orchid Oasis Card on the cutting plate before pushing the 1/8″ strip of inked card tight up against the top edge. This time I placed the bottom section of the tag die onto the two small pieces of card and cut them out. Finally I glued the two pieces, complete with faux stitched details, into place on the tag base.

Now I could see how much room I had left and stamped the rose just above the card strips. Then I stamped the “Congrats” sentiment above that.
Going back to the Tailor Made Tags Dies I found the small die to cut out some reinforcements for the circular hole on the tag. I die-cut these from a scrap of Orchid Oasis Card and glued them on both sides of the tag base.
Finally from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack I cut 6″ of white twine. After threading it through the hole I tied it in a simple knot and another project was finished.
One of the great things about papercrafting is that it’s easy to create pieces like tags or packaging to coordinate with a card. I must remember to do that more often.
MORE WONDERFUL PROJECTS
So with my blog projects done let me tell you a little more about this month’s IDEAS Tutorial Bundle. The August “Enjoying Sale-A-Bration” PDF contains 83 pages, featuring 39 projects from 15 different designers. There’s cards plus lots of 3D projects for every taste and ability, with every product from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure making an appearance. The collage below provides a little sneak peek of what’s inside. I think you’ll easily spot parts of the two Wonderful World projects I contributed to this bundle.

If you’d like a copy of the Tutorial Bundle for your own personal use, or even to use in your classes, there are three different ways to get it:
- Place an order via my online store for $45CAD (before shipping and taxes) using my August Host Code KCAU2EJJ. Make sure to allow Stampin’ Up! to share your contact details so I can e-mail the tutorial to you. If your order is over $200CAD don’t use the Host Code or you’ll miss out on Stampin’ Rewards. However, so long as I have access to your contact details I’ll still send you the PDF.
- Join Stampin’ Up! and my Crafty Canadians team, and you’ll get this IDEAS tutorial for free.
- Buy the tutorial. Contact me at tutorials@papercraftwithme.com for more information.
Once you’ve received the bundle, please remember not to share or distribute printed or electronic copies of the tutorials. As a team we’ve worked hard to provide these exclusive projects for your own personal use. For this reason if you know someone who would like to have the tutorial bundle, please direct them to me to obtain their own copy. Thank you for your support.
So that’s all from me for today, but please visit Sandra Roberts on the next leg of the blog hop by clicking on the ‘NEXT’ button below.
