I find inspiration everywhere. A lot of it comes from our garden and the view over the bay. Today’s project is different. My inspiration came from a Chinese New Year display in my local Walmart.
The display I saw was full of red and gold colours that are considered lucky. So I immediately thought of creating something with a Good Luck sentiment.

NOT CHINESE NEW YEAR
I began with a piece of Very Vanilla Card that I wiped with an Embossing Buddy to remove any oils and static. Then using VersaMark ink I stamped the tree mage from the Power of Hope Stamp Set. At first glance this set isn’t for Chinese New Year, but it would work for my purpose. So with the tree stamped I continued by stamping the “good luck” sentiment below the tree.
Next I sprinkled the sticky ink with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and tapped off the excess. After removing a few stray specks I melted the remaining powder using my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).
While the gold embossing was impressive I thought I needed to add a little more detail and so I pulled out my Stitched Rectangles Dies. Using the #C3 die (counting up from the smallest) I cut out the embossed piece and then cut another from some more Very Vanilla Card.

Now I needed to create a base for my tag and so I cut a 2″ x 3-1/2″ piece of Real Red Card. Before attaching the Very Vanilla pieces I punched the top of the tag using the oval hole option on the Detailed Trio Punch. Then the Very Vanilla pieces were fixed to each side with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
With that done I threaded some 3/8″ Gold Metallic-Edge Ribbon through the hole and tied it in a knot. In no time at all my gift tag was complete.
Of course although my project was inspired by Chinese New Year, it could be used for any occasion you want to wish good luck such as retirement, promotion, driving test, you name it.
