Today’s Groundhog Day and our local weather prognosticator, Shubenacadie Sam has just predicted another six weeks of winter. Gee thanks Sam! I woke up with a scratchy throat and what could be the beginnings of earache, so not a great start to Superbowl weekend.
For my project I decided to revisit a favourite colour combination, pink and grey to make a really simple but elegant thank you card.

ANIMAL EXPEDITION WITH NO ANIMALS
It all began with the Animal Expedition 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. In this pack one side of the sheets are really cute and colourful animals. On the other side however are lovely small patterns that are perfect for backgrounds.
I chose the Basic Gray paper which has hippos on the back. I cut a piece of the DSP and used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to attach it to a layer of Powder Pink Card.
Around the layers I then wrapped a length of Powder Pink 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon, and secured it on the back with Tear & Tape Adhesive. Above the ribbon I then added three pieces of Whisper White Baker’s Twine .
BIG TIME SENTIMENT
The ‘Thank You Big Time’ sentiment comes from the Animal Outing Stamp Set, and I stamped it onto a piece of Whisper White Card using Tuxedo Black ink. Then using liquid glue I fixed the sentiment to a layer of Powder Pink Card.
Next, using my Stampin’ Trimmer, I cut and scored a piece of Thick Whisper White Card. I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to crease my card base.
Using Stampin’ Dimensionals I attached the background to the card front, followed by the layered sentiment.

GROUNDHOG DAY FINAL TOUCHES
I wanted the DSP to be the common factor for this project so I cut a narrow strip and fixed it to a strip of Powder Pink card with liquid glue. Then I attached that inside the card base down the right hand side.
Finally I fixed a piece of the DSP to the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope with liquid glue. Once I’d cut the DSP to shape with Paper Snips following the edge of the flap, I was done.
Now I think it’s time for some honey and lemon. And as it’s Groundhog Day perhaps I’ll return to my craft studio too.
Whatever you have planned, I hope you can find time for a little crafting therapy
BUNDLE BONUS – The Animal Outing Stamp Set can be purchased by itself or in a bundle with the coordinating Animal Friends Thinlits Dies. I didn’t use the dies on today’s project but as buying the bundle will save you 10% off the cost of buying the two items separately, I’ve included links in my product list in case you want to look at this further.
