Well the forecasters weren’t wrong. We’re into our major second snowstorm of the season and it’s not even winter yet. As I’m typing this we’re at 10 minor power interruptions and it’s only a matter of time before it goes out completely. So it’s a race to get my Joy & Love project posted before that happens.
JOY & LOVE
I began with a piece of Very Vanilla Card and the Mistletoe Season Stamp Set.
Using Old Olive ink I stamped the more solid mistletoe image and then added the solid bow in Calypso Coral. Then I wiped the whole piece with an Embossing Buddy to make sure it was completely dry with no oils or static.
Next I used VersaMark ink to add the small berry branch a number of times, added the outline to the bow and the joy and love sentiment. I sprinkled the sticky ink with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and tapped off the excess. Once I’d removed some stray specks I melted the rest using my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).
Unusually for me I decided that my mistletoe needed even more shine so added a sprinkling of the largest Rhinestone Basic Jewels over the mistletoe bouquet.
OFFSET LAYER
For my card base I chose Old Olive Card, cut and scored using my Stampin’ Trimmer. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
I added the stamped and embossed layer at an angle using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
TIP – If you have trouble getting your layers straight, don’t try. Just put them at a definite angle instead!
FINISHING TOUCHES
Keeping it simple I stamped the solid bow in the middle towards the top of a layer of Very Vanilla Card using Calypso Coral ink. Then I added the bow outline using Old Olive ink before fixing the layer inside the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
Once I’d stamped the same Calypso Coral and Old Olive bow to the flap of the Whisper White Medium Envelope, I was done.
So now we’re up to 12 minor power interruptions. Time for another hot coffee while I still can.
